I'll send the link to my buddy . He's taking his out for me to rebuild it for him. I'm an airplane mechanic, but build race engines for a our local track car guys.

In particular, watch the exhaust manifold removal and the belt tensioner removal. A couple of specialized parts/tools are needed and that hung me up for awhile.

I have an 08 Seadoo GTX with 600hrs. , and I don't think you'll find a 310 with little more than 100hrs.. , My buddies just blew holes in the bottom end, and the piston almost pushed the sparkplug out . Kawasaki has a serious problem with that machine for sure, it's nothing you did to it . My buddy took such good care of his, and it never saw saltwater , and he would never beach it at all.

They're out there. I just think Kawasaki got a little too aggressive with this engine. Under 1.5 liters, running at 16 lbs of boost at the redline for extended periods of time as jet skis do just sounds like a recipe for disaster at some point. It's on the ragged edge all the time. It's not like a car where you're running those numbers and then shifting. I'm definitely not an expert, but it just seems like common sense to me. Throw in the difficulty of finding premium gas on the water, the fact that they sit around a lot and lose octane while they do and the high maintenance with this particular machine, it's definitely not for everyone (including my family). From what I've seen, the yamaha SVHO has larger displacement and runs less boost and I think makes a little less power. I don't know much about Sea Doos. I am having the motor rebuilt by Kawi Performance. He has designed forged pistons for this motor with a slightly lower compression ratio than stock that I will be having installed and should be more reliable and tolerant of octane issues. I'll have a follow up video to this whole mess outlining everything, things I've learned, etc. But the problem, as I suspected, turned out to be broken ringlands on cylinders 1 and 4. The rest of the motor was A OK. I highly recommend taking a look at Kawi Performance and checking out some of his videos. I dropped off the motor in person. Not sure you'll find a place more specialized in this ski than them.

@@MenschWithaWrench I can relate to detonation . I turboed my Miata 1.8 last year , and I run 93 with the ignition map I'm running now. Last month I had to run 89 because my station was out of 93, so I figured I'd stay out of boost until I fill up again . I forgot, and did 3 3rd gear pulls to redline only to blow a ring land,crack a piston, and bend two rods. Only on about 11lbs of boost, but that was enough with the lower octane , and my timing map. During the summer here in FL. I'm going to be pulling out maybe 2degrees across the whole map this year with the high temperatures we have that time of year. I just got done rebuilding it, and I've put about 1000miles so far on it around town, so far so good. Now it's all Forged pistons,rods,billet oil pump gears ,etc.. Even then I'm using a pair of DetCans to check for detonation before I go driving it hard in boost just to make sure my map is still good. My Seadoo says 87 octane is good, but then it has 10:1 compression which is high for 87 from my experience with car engines. I always run 89 in it , to make sure . Also one of the big Seadoo engine rebuilders here said the same thing, and every engine he overhauls like mine has serious rod bearing wear from extreme pressure from what he thinks is detonation.

The link you supplied shows for a Jeep Grand Cherokee not Dodge Durango

It’s for a dodge durango hemi. Says it in the applications.

Thanks for that! I still have the final one to edit and upload and will be doing a post removal of other things you may want to look at or replace while it’s out.

Why kawasaki has two waterbox. Whats the reason for that
@MenschWithaWrench2 ай бұрын
@@Ameer_ali.. I’m not really sure. I’ve heard it helps with balancing out the deep V hull. On the 310 the supercharger and exhaust system is on the left, and it’s pretty heavy, probably 80 lbs combined, so some ballast on the right would help. Will def keep it quieter as well.

That sucks! I have a 23 ultra 310 and I’ll be staying on top of all my maintenance. I don’t think most people realize how hard and long they run these things. Letting your maintenance go just a little longer sometimes will you in an expensive situation. Hopefully it’s not too bad when you get in there.

I have a couple videos on my channel all about this. AFE was very nice and sent me a free tube, coupler, fittings, etc. LOL - I'm watching your video as I'm typing and saw your "temp fix," with that offset coupler - I wonder if you saw my video? My temp fix worked but I didn't like the idea of having an "elbow," that can mess with air flow. Nice video.

It was you who mentioned the revised part in the comments of your video. Thanks for that, I couldn't remember who it was until I just saw your screename! I had tried that coupler before I came across your video. Had already removed it from my truck. Your mention of the new part spurred me to give it another go.

@@MenschWithaWrench LOL - small world! Sadly my 2021 Tow N Go with ONLY 11,000 miles developed a major drivetrain issue. Thank goodness it was under warranty as they fixed about 4 major components and the SM said they were up to about $9,000 in repairs on them. But they couldn't find the issue - I didn't trust it as I have kids and travel ball - they really worked with me on just taking this off my hands and gave me money to put towards a new car. I ended up getting a loaded 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Overland with the 5.7 Hemi. I already have an AFE and Scorcher installed, ha! They actually sell a very cool performance hood for it I'm thinking about. Anyway, have a good one!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
