Great video! I was interested in better understanding the labor requirements for installation. How many man hours does it take to install? Optimum number of laborers for installation?

I'm guessing around 55 degree soil temp? Thats usually when things start to stir in the ground. Greencast online on their resources tab has a soil temp map that I use. I usually wait until the ground soil has a 5 day average of about 53 degrees or so for my zip code.

We're interested in cross pollinating a couple dozen different cultivars together over time in order to establish a "wild patch" where every plant would be descendants of all the cultivars.

Time three minutes, no, row cover is not called landscape fabric, at least not in Canada. It's call row cover, polyester fleece, but landscape fabric goes under the soil as a weed barrier.

Hi John, typically, fertilizer would be applied before planting, and before the row covers are installed, or through fertigation.

Something that scratched my brain a bit. They say the farmer should choose between gas and diesel engines for their tractor. I don't think I've ever seen a gas powered tractor younger than 1959. I don't think it's a CHOICE really. The only way you can get a gas powered tractor is if you buy some ancient relic from Eisenhower times. Correct me if I'm wrong. An old tractor is a BAD idea. Only if you're a hipster growing "organic" veggies for a local market. For any serious use on the farm, no way. You will never be able to find parts, servicing it is a nightmare, fuel economy comes from the times when airlines bragged about HOW MUCH fuel their airplanes were using. Power is miniscule (70-80 hp from 7-8 liter engines). As a "vintage" toy it's great fun. Also great to learn and teach automechanical work. For work - I'd rather buy a shovel. Again,I may be wrong.

@@JoeHan268 Yeah, I can't find the similar 4mm wire (about 6 gauge - 4 to 5 mm) that Dowding uses. I did find "chainlink wire" on homedepot.ca. It's 7 gauge. www.homedepot.ca/product/peak-products-chain-link-bottom-bracing-wire-galvanized/1000168621

I have to say I've been a tractor tech for a few years and know quite a bit. I guarantee if someone out there needs this kind of info, this is by far the bet way to get it rather than spending hours and ours doing research. I loved this. XD it was great. He spoke without making it difficult for us to understand. Only way I think it could get better is if he had a beer in his hand XD!!!! Good work
