Paul Franklin is indeed the star of this song with his stellar steel pedal work but lets not forget the lady to Vince Gill's right. With a hat on, hiding the effects of chemotherapy, the great Dawn Sears sings back up. The year is 2014 and Dawn would pass away in December of 2014. Gone but never Forgotten. Ms. Dawn Sears.

Tom Brumley did the definitive steel stuff for Buck. I know Franklin is popular, but as an old Emmons player and Emmons fan, I think Franklin chooses really wierd fills.

This old Buck Owens song takes me back to a much better time. A time when country music was great and more importantly a time when Americans didn't hate each other over politics.

I think he tries to do too much. I prefer Tom Brumley’s original version.

God ole mighty Dawn Sears had a beautiful instrument in that powerful voice. Why her talent was not more pushed by the establishment is mind blowing! What a horrible shame cancer robbed her and us of that divine sound. RIP Sweet Lady

Paul's version may inventive and new but Tom Brumley who created the licks and turn around sounds much better. Paul's version sounds off key and distorted and most important the original melody is barely recognizable except for a few times. Keep it simple is best.

The cry of the steel guitar is wonderful. Like a slow fiddle or mandolin, it pulls at the heart. Its like Elvis, the difference in hearing the song or feeling the song.
