Being an American Indian and being of Chowanoke descent are not the same thing. I have Algonquian ancestry from White people that took them, not from a Real Algonquian Tribe. Do you guys not understand the difference? And how it applies to what you are?
@jonnyn8928Ай бұрын
The Metis as a Nation, did not historically exist. They do now, but it's reconstructionism, i.e. nobody passed them the identity associated with that heritage. They discovered it themselves and built an identity off of it.
@jonnyn8928Ай бұрын
It's actually a dangerous precedent because it displays that anybody can just make up Identities and then have it validated.
@jonnyn8928Ай бұрын
Bruh. My Tribe established self governance before 1492. You're just now doing it? Lazy. I don't know what you're so proud about, you made up an identity yesterday and it's valid today? Ok, my culture has continuously been doing what it does since before Europeans into the modern day.

How does one merit an invitation to witness such an amazing event like this? I see certain Métis Citizens were invited to witness the signing, what a privilege. ♾ How does RRM pick who gets invitations to participate in such events?

I Am a red river metis (beyond borders) citizen, and i am so proud of the hard work that Clem and david and all the leaders of all the metis nations across canada that have donated their time, energy and soul into getting this. All the provinces helped in moving all of us forward in thier own way, but this is historic, as is the ancestors of we the metis people from Manitoba, and red river-- thanks - you make me proud.

Malcom- all the naysayers out there that claim there are no Metis people n canada are continuing to stir the pot. If the red river metis are not real metis people, then who is?? I will tell you that maybe you should do some homework , and do some reading.. and by the way- ontario metis were the first to take a case to the Supreme Court and won it. This started our journey to come out of the darkness from ver a hundred years ago. Our lineage goes back as far as First Nations people, because our grandmother/ father (was) First Nations. We are all related by blood. Yes, we have our own culture, our own language, and music, and art, but what makes me proud to be a registered metis is that our fight for our dignity is starting to make headway. We have had to hide for over a hundred years, and suffered at the hands of keyboard warriors and First Nations denighing we exist. We have fought the government, we have fought battles that have been untold, now we have to fight against people that just don’t want us here. We have gone through rigorous registry hoops, and have proven time and time again that we are legitimate indigenous peoples. So, with that, all i can say is, if you want to set yourself up as judge and jury to keep the pot boiling, i say good luck to you, have a nice day..if I’ve missed something please enlighten me.. 82 year old metis now in ontario, from red river..

You have the magic wand to declare Null and Void? Please do explain this great right and privilege you have ascertain. As far as the Federal Government and Métis are concerned it is signed and agreed upon. I’m pretty sure your opinion will not stop the treaty that was signed with the Métis ♾ and Canada 🇨🇦

@@amphibiandiver8244 I have family living in Montana n Michigan.Pensyvania. you dont see us claiming that my homelands..goes for our other nations..ur invasive on FN territories n take our plight as your own claiming all sorts of monies after historically claiming ferench AND deny indian identity...you had no claim then as do now.

Moi pense pas que c'est le Michif, c'est ben le francais de ma jeunesse qu'on parlait a St Boniface. L'accent c'est un peu different que le Quebecois, mais c'est pas mal la meme chose, en mon opinion.

Why are veterans in Canada separated by ethnicity? Seems weird.
@RobynL.-fj3jf2 ай бұрын
Because they were separated by Canada during and after the wars. When the Indigenous soldiers came home, they were treated to the same disgusting discrimination they suffered before they went to fight on behalf of their Indigenous homelands.
