This is great! Are the .alc files similar to REX files? I am trying to find some REX files for a class and I think the .alc files are similar. Am I understanding this correctly? Thank you.
@HeathHolme22 сағат бұрын
Hi not really I'm afraid👋.alc files are a file type native to Ableton Live, useful for creating an audible preview for a custom preset or patch you create and save. from memory REX files are a type of audio sample loop file format developed by Reason Studios - if you want to use REX files the good news is they will work in Ableton Live here's a link to some free REX loops - www.reasonexperts.com/50-free-loops-135bpm.html

there is an actual Roland 303 VST plugin too. Thanks for the tips. Im personally not exactly interested in getting a sound as authentic as possible, I would rather be able to expand on it and give it a modern twist and countless new added flavors. RN working on adding "accent" features to the device i am building and keep adding to.

Hey you’re welcome! And you’re absolutely right there’s a few good VST versions including now Roland Cloud 303. I kind of wanted to show folks though you can get close with stock Ableton plugins 😊@@jopmens6960 I built an updated version a couple of years ago kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5yXY5yffsuLkLcsi=KBysuH8JOgljdvVU

Nice! Finally someone explained how to go from drums to bass technique, still I'm not sure how to go about an accompanying melody, by ear I believe
@HeathHolme2 ай бұрын
Thanks! In this idea (mainly working with samples) I did lean more on making things musically fit together by ear. Rather than using a fixed key/scale. Although the midi track containing a sampler - re sampled chord, the pattern I made is white notes only so if adding further harmony/melody there's a path to follow. Cheers

Yeah, very nice! I like how you tweak the automation on the fly, very efficient, thanks!
@HeathHolme4 ай бұрын
Thanks Pawel 👋 I think how you manage automation can really change the whole feeling of the track. In terms of expression, feeling, tension and release automation is key. In my latest livestream, where I'm live arranging a loop into a track - the automation is captured as a part of the performance, recording. Perhaps the best method of all. 🙂
