I had a failed Consulting & MSP business before. After 2 months of disappointing job search, I'm thinking of starting another MSP business. Given current economic situation it's a bit tough to start any new business. Deciding whether to start fresh or invest in a franchise MSP such as TeamLogic IT. Thoughts?

Hi Hang, each has its pros and cons. The franchise model offers excellent supporting services like back-office, marketing, and process; some even provide centralized services like a helpdesk. They have a level of brand recognition and are built to support growth. The con is a revenue share component and some restrictions on your chosen tools. Also, things tend to move a bit slower (changes, adds, etc.) in this model due to the structured process. This is a pro and a con depending on your approach. As you discovered in your first venture, going out alone is not for the faint of heart. You are responsible for sales, marketing, finance, service, etc. But if you are up to those challenges, it offers the ability to adapt to changing conditions quickly, has unlimited earning potential, and is 100% yours. Peer groups can help support you with mentorship and support. Going out alone is the way to go if you feel you are strong at sales. If you struggle there or need to improve at juggling multiple balls in the air simultaneously, then I would look at franchising.

Impressive to see the growth of each individual, especially during COVID. Though, Times were tough, but with right support and mentorship, we managed to sail ahead, step by step, we moved the ladder up. Loved the podcast, Thank you Robb, Tim and Bryan for bringing Zay in. Highly appreciated !
