I bought one in 2024. It is old school with heritage in older International tractors with different sheet metal basically as Mahindra used to build tractors for IH in that country. It is old school, 4 gears, a high and low range and built like a tank and also 4x4. No fiberglass, no plastic, all steel and robust cast iron housings from front to rear. It is heavy. No plastic levers, just a basic tractor. Not the fastest to do loader work, but will pull like all get out,. It will last in my opinion, for your grandkids to drive if you take care of it, just like if it was an older IH tractor. Mine is a 4550, 4x4 with front bucket and now with a root grapple. Only issue I have had was I found some of the water outlet bolts were not tight, and leaked coolant which I tightened and fixed. Price point, JD can not come close. They do not make simple tractors anymore.

So much good commentary and common sense here. Thank you. I had a Wilderness Hunter in 308 and loved it. Excellent action, and excellent factory trigger. And on a final note, good for you for mostly replicating the break-in routine. Lots of opinions on this, but if one buys a quality rifle, which Bergara is, then why not follow the guidelines they establish for optimal performance of their product? One more thing - I have seen in several different places where Bergaras really don't reach their accuracy potential until around the 100 round mark. Again - thank you for a quality, intelligent look at a really good rifle.

engineer? Who's the engineer who designed it and is saying to do a break-in? if you need a subject matter expert's recommendations, look at what the barrel manufacturers are saying. that's krieger, bartlein, shilen for starters. they say it does nothing to improve accuracy or cleaning. it isn't the "high pressure rounds" causing the barrel to burn out. the 308, 22-250, and 6.5 CM operate at the same pressures. It's the amount of powder to bore size ratio that is causing the barrel to burn out.
@lastminuteman12 күн бұрын
@@reloadingfun The Bergara owners manual recommends a break in… And 308 typically has a longer barrel life… That’s within my own anecdotal experience… Yes we have “shot barrels out” in the 22-250, and 300 win mag. I don’t know what other brands are recommending about barrel break-in, but I’m going to do whatBegara recommends in their owners manual, I’ll stand by my statement on that. You do you man…
@reloadingfun12 күн бұрын
@lastminuteman yep, a 308 does have longer barrel life. that's because of the case capacity to bore size ratio. not the pressure. barrel break in, ha. pointless. Im not trying to convince you otherwise. but did you know that shilen barrels only came up with a process because they got sick of people asking them what they should do. ask any barrel maker, and they will tell you they can't tell if someone broke their barrel in or not. Call bergera and ask how they determine if someone did or not. they can't that should be your answer. its just a feel good thing.
@lastminuteman12 күн бұрын
@ That may be, as I stated I am not a competition shooter, nor do I design barrels… I do use firearms every day… shooting for fun, practice, and personal defense. I have had barrels that shot just as good with the first three rounds as they did rounds 50 through 53. I have also Experienced barrels that got better overtime , it could be that I got better at shooting them, as you can clearly see I’m no expert competition shooter lol And if it’s just a feel good thing, that’s OK. It makes me feel good. 😁 I think you agree, most rifles can shoot better than the operators… I’m gonna put the rounds through, regardless might as well follow the manufacturers recommendation. Not trying to convince you or anything, but thanks for commenting anyway.
