I greatly appreciate you taking the time to watch / listen. The entire situation is unfortunate on many levels, but at the same time I am over it. I will continue to help others with their instruments when I can, and may post content here and there when I feel I need to. I did alot to help musicians and guitar players, and the little money I "made" was all given to charity, but towards the end viewers started to lose interest and youtube felt I wasn't valuable, So I decided I needed to make the change to do something else.

Hi, I was thinking about buying this guitar for a dual p90 project, would they fit in this routing?
@jjcollins
@jjcollins Ай бұрын
Hi thank you for taking the time to watch and for the question! Yes I think they will, although it may require slight modification. All pickups can vary slightly in size or depth depending on the brand etc. I think it is definitely doable, another option is getting a humbucker sized p90 which many companies do make, although they are not as known or popular as regular sized p90s. It might be an easier option, and will also be easier finding a replacement pickguard that will fit them. You can always get a custom made guard it just depends on how much you want to spend. Let me know what you decide to do, and how it works out for you if you decide to do it!

@@nandannadkarni8534 Yes! Dremel tool might be needed, for a slight modification. Good news is that I did look briefly and you can get precut p90 strat pickguards on amazon, ebay, etsy and others...so thats definitely a plus. If the pickups fit the pickguard without modification, and the configuration is right then you can use the pickguard as a template for routing / dremel. It will be a little bit of work, but not impossible.

It is quite disappointing. While I may have gotten a lemon, I can't say that your experience will be any better, and that was the point of the video. I would not want a beginner to receive something like this. It's been too much time and work to get it to play properly and even with everything that I have done so far, it's still not great and still needs more work. If you do decide to buy one, just make sure you go through it thoroughly, that way if it is not right, you have 30 days to return it. That saying, at the moment there are MANY options on amazon for great guitars for an affordable price. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! @jjcollins
@jjcollins 2 ай бұрын
hi @dennism4222, yes it should be. The guitar is routed for humbuckers so it shouldn't be a problem. The only issue that I could see happening is that some of the screw holes may not line up with the original guard. This is very common, and happens all the time when buying an aftermarket replacement. If anything a slight modification may be needed, but nothing drastic.

I've watched several reviews for this guitar. One thing I noticed was that when they were playing it, it went through a bunch of synthesizers before it made it through to my computer speakers. A newbe player is not going to own a $230 amp to go with a $120 guitar at first, nor will he/she know about all the pedals that make the pros (term used loosely) use in these videos.

Hi Phil, thank you for watching and for the comment. You are absolutely right, most new players either don't have the knowledge, the know how or the money for that kind of equipment. Hi Bill, yes in theory you are absolutely correct. The issue with that is fenders warranty claim service is both a joke and a nightmare to deal with, and I say this both as a consumer as well as a former dealer as I worked in guitar and music retail for 10 years previously. As a consumer you will have to take the guitar to an authorized service center and have it repaired. In my experience this can be a guitar shop such as guitar center or even an electronics repair shop that fixes tvs and stereos etc. it can be a nightmare. My suggestion to anyone who buys this and has major issues like I did is to return it to Amazon and get a replacement. The headache from fender won't be worth the $120.. thank you for the comment and for taking the time to watch!

in my opinion this stupid thing is on the low lower end of the Squier series . in my opinion there's no need for Fender to pander to the cheapo low budget guitar segment of the population. I've watched tons of other shill channels that are promoting this guitar & getting paid to shill for the company telling us how great it is. in my opinion it's not that great for the price point.. & this idea of modding it with better hardware is so dumb.. just spend a little more money for a better Squire that already has the better pick ups & what not.. & besides in my opinion there are a lot of fake fender pick ups & fake fender parts & fake named brand hardware so we don't really know what we are getting when placing orders on line.. we just better off investing a little more money into a better product & buy from a reputable store

Because you can mod it to exactly how you like it. Folk can spend thousands on guitars and still not enjoy them and want to change the components. You make them sound how you want, gig them, and if they get broken, scratched, dented or stolen, you don't cry too much.

Hi Steve, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I will see what I can do with videos for the future. The guitar has already had some changes, and some filming has been done so far. I'm still not 100% sure what the final outcome will be but most likely everything will be changed on it. The tuner that I usually use in my videos is an older korg tuner. DT-4 is the model number. I have had it for well over ten years, and I'm not sure that they make it anymore. However if you can find one online somewhere I highly recommend it. Its a digital strobe tuner and is very accurate. Another good option is the Korg TM60, not a strobe tuner but still very accurate. The bridge that I show in the video is a Wilkinson WOV01, and is currently installed in the strat. So far it is performing well and will probably stay in the guitar, unless I decide to go with a brass block. See what the future brings...

If you buy one, and you like the way it plays then sure, go for it! It's going to need a good setup for sure, a bunch of parts changed and the electronics changed but it could be done. Only major difference is the bridge is not a hard tail bridge, but you could block it and get pretty much the same result. If you decide to do it let me know how it goes. Re the trem arm. Did you try some lube on the arm and applying light pressure (taking care not to crossthread)? Appreciate that it could be a couple of things, most likely the thread in the actual bridge hole wasn't cut cleanly. After inspecting its thread too to see it was cut cleanly, lightly forcing the trem arm into the thread might cut it clean or force any debris out. Nothing to lose. OTOH you may have just gotten a dud as they would only ever random batch QC. I couldn't really see a thread dimensional mismatch occurring... but then again anything is possible. Absolutely cheapest tuners, just unlucky. But I agree, not what one wants for absolute beginners who are the model's target demographic.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and for the comment. So far the video seems to be doing well and there has been some interest from the community so we will see what the future brings. Currently doing some research on parts and seeing which way I will be going with the project and the upgrades.

I'd be interested to see how the mods turn out and I'm sure others would. (ie, how good can I make this thing for a minimal cost). I wrote this guitar off because of a video that mentions the thickness (although I did consider just cutting a trem block down to size). It's very difficult to get an honest review instead of watching a commercial. Liked and subbed.

Thank you for the comment and for watching! Considering that the video seems to be somewhat popular, and has had some interest in the community here, we will see what the future brings. If you are good with metal working, you probably could cut down a standard size block and make it fit, but personally I wouldn't go through all the hassle of that. There are many replacement blocks available in this size, as well as full bridge assembly's available for affordable prices. pretty much in any hardware color and in steel and/or brass blocks. just gotta know where to look and make sure you buy the right size.

@@jjcollins 36mm Trem block is all you need. Amazon has some good copper blocks for around $21.

@@nearmyth yup absolutely correct. Many options available. I was thinking about putting in a brass block, but at this time 'im sticking with the wilkinson tremolo that I have, and have shown in the video. that could change down the road though.
