It's not really the artists. It's their labels and representatives.

What an amazing video, I love consuming this type of content, besides being a subject that fascinates me, it is also a chance for me to improve my English. I would like to recommend, in case you are not familiar with the rap albums "Roteiro Para Aïnouz Vol. 3 & 2" by the revolutionary artist Don L. These are recent albums, but contribute a lot to the history of the strugle for the Brazilian narrative against fascism.

This is amazing. Been influenced from so much of this music that I didn't know the exact historical origins of. If you could do an episode on Haiti that would be incredibly surprising to a lot of people how rich of a musical history Haiti has

It could also be called black popular music because it was the rise of black consciousness caetano Gilberto jorge ben jor all of them was making more afro influenced music which was political within it self. At a time where brazil was trying to erase its blackness . MPB USAGE OF AFRICAN RELIGIOUS THEMES and instrumentations bringing back old songs of enslavement like Aruanda = Luanda Angola= Heaven . This music was giving rise to the Brazilian black power movement and liberation at a time

Wrong they was mad at Carmen Miranda because she was embracing her African Roots Carmen Miranda despite looking as she did was raised in a predominantly black area and has African Roots as well they did not want propagating that the Brazilian people were of mixed race at a time where they wanted to whiten up Brazil let's not forget Brazil just ended slavery around 1890 something so by the 1940s a lot of people are literally 1st and 2nd generation out of slavery
