Got both of these lenses but i like the 20mm sharpness, quick focus and low light capability. I returned the pancake 😅

@@macauinchina I was the opposite, I returned the 20mm because the image quality on the corners dies and the field curvature is a problem. Are you on aps-c or full frame?

@ it can be adjusted in post, in lightroom there is a lens correction for viltrox 20mm . Im using the OG A7 full frame.

If you like small lenses, the Samyang AF 35mm f/2.8 FE is an underappreciated gem...it came out about 8 years ago and people forgot about it lately. But it's only 86 grams, performs well optically, and you can probably get one super cheap second hand. Check the MTF50 image resolution chart on LensTip

I use a7ii just like u and plan to buy 28mm f4.5 Any focus issues in photo mode?

I haven’t experienced any focusing issues on the lens, it works pretty well. The main problem is that the auto focusing system on the a7ii series are unreliable.

Viltox is still releasing firmware updates for the 85mm F/1.8, five years after I bought it. We're on version 1.2.7 at this point and another update just came out. Viltrox have demonstrated their intentions with their actions and consistency, rather than just their words or marketing, like some other Chinese lens companies who sell updatable lenses but never release any firmware updates. I believe Viltrox will make good on firmware updates for the 28mm f/4.5 as soon as they are capable. It's a best-selling lens, and they've surely got the incentive.

I believe so too. Unlike other Chinese lens companies that include a Type-C slot in the lens but never bother to release even a single update, Viltrox actually releases updates and cares for its older lenses. I’ll await their updates for the 28mm F4.5

Any complaint against this lens should not be taken seriously. This is a very very niche lens that Sony users cried for and Viltrox had to make tons of compromises to achieve this size. Just treat it as a lens cap alternative.

it’s also only like 50$ when on sale, performance is still way better than all those other lens cap style lenses

Can I use any silicone based grease , or does it have to be specifically for lenses ?

for older lenses like these, you can use what you have in hand. the grease I used is for automotives

That sounds great, The only frustrating thing about mine was the aperture and autofocus not working.
