Real rescues, real incident management and looks like everyone kept a cool head - those sudden surging waves can always catch us out regardless of how careful/confident we are paddling. Is it just the camera angle or was it quite shallow there in places? Anyway, you guys nailed it!

Can I ask what you think of the Valley Etain. Is it a barge in your experience or not? Would you get bored with it? Many thanks.
@JonasAlexandersonАй бұрын
Hi, well a somewhat hard question to answer as it got two different answers. The PE Etain is a barge! If you are going to use it for mostly day trips it will be very boring on the other hand it’s an ok expedition kayak. The fibre glass version is better as it got a bit of rocker and is lighter. But if you are looking for a somewhat bigger kayak that is nice to paddle in most conditions, the Nordkapp is a much better option. If you don’t have too much gear or don’t do multi day expeditions I can highly recommend the Anas Acuta.

Is it calling or calming glaviers that cause tsunamis?

Actually it's called "calving" glacier. Yes that caused the tsunami, it is replacing the water when calving and the waves it creates are completely different from waves created by wind.

Different colours for everything, bi coloured kayak with contrasting colours and straight lines seperating colours. Straight lines rarely occur in nature and any colour can be invisible in different conditions so don't coordinate, it isn't a fashion show.

The thing is, no matter what colour you use, always expect that you are not seen. I have been a ship navigator for 35 years and know how hard it is to spot a kayak, no matter the colours of the kayak or paddler’s clothes.

Aside from visibility, for a composite boat if you are going for the lightest weight clear coat gel adds the least weight, yellow the most (in a pure colour) but some fancy colour schemes with multiple colours and sparkles add even more weight.

Allow my2cents on this toppic: The Insta, that i used (a one and a 360 x.x) were both very much flawed - either by the software resp. app, they are providing, which was unusable to me (unstable, not realy intuitive... the "dekstop-app" is unsable to) or by hardware: i used two 360s, both failed (they both stopped at round the same time i unpacked and used them - 30ish so minutes later. one of them had also issues with the sealing, so that i did not use on the kayak. Currently, i'm using 2 older, chaper but very much working GoPro 7 and GP10 on the chest ... without issues... Insta has lost all credibility with me, I will never ever use anything out of their hands ever again.

Hi Jonas. Peter here. I am a huge fan of your videos. I particularly am a fan of your Swedish winter videos. Here in Brisbane, Australia where I live, the weather and water temperature is amazingly comfortable all year. I cannot even comprehend what it must be like paddling in snow and icy conditions, but I guess if you live in a Swedish climate and, like me, wish to paddle all the year round, you prepare. Love the 360 camera. Wish I could afford one for some of my adventures. I have had some scary moments twisting my action cam around in spicy conditions to get a good shot. Nearly coming to grief, but getting a good result. A 360 cam would appear much safer in that situation. I am 69 now, and find that more and more I need to keep paddling. My kilometres seem to increase as I get older. Do you find that?? The archilpeligo (is that a word)? seems a fantastic paddlling location and I thank you for showing it. Like you I also have a small fleet of high end kayaks and agree with one of your previous videos that there is not really one that does everything well. Take care, and keep your excellent content coming. BTW, I have attached a link here to some video I took of a paddle to Peel Island off the Queensland coast using sails. Something you may not see much in Sweden. Cheers...Peter kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZq1n6SXjrOnibs

Hi Peter. Thanks for your kind words. I have been hoping to do longer trips since I retired, but that is not the case for me. I do more courses and trips with beginners or intermediate paddlers and that tend to be shorter trips. But I have slightly more days in a kayak now. (I will do a recap video of 2023 after New year.) The 360 camera is amazing and now as I have a remote control, use it even more. That and my DJI Action 3. I don’t use my GoPros as much any more, I don’t think they are very reliable. I have it on my bucket list to go to Australia or New Zealand for kayaking. Not 2024 though as next year is almost fully booked already :) (Antarctica, Finland, Norway and Canada are some places I will go to). I will check your videos and thanks again for watching mine. Have a Merry Christmas now! /Jonas
