If anyone has downloaded a Linux MX or arch and burned it on a CD or DVD, you can boot from your CD and use Memtest from the CD- you dont have to make any changing in BIOS- only Boot from CD is necessary.

I am learning well from watching your videos. However, I am asking a question because I am not able to apply it. After designing a 24-base counter and a 60-base counter using T flip-flops, I want to implement a digital clock that displays hours and minutes. How should we design the hours and minutes to display numbers from 0 to 23 and 0 to 59 in 7 segments using a BCD-segment indicator?
@TritonTv69420Ай бұрын
Sounds like you need two seven segment displays. I'm not sure about the bcd part but as long as you fill out the logic for the left 2 seven segment displays from 0-24 and the right two seven segments from 0-60 it should work. Check description for the decoder file i made for the seven segment display. I just added the excel and txt file show in the video. Hope it helps!

@TritonTv69420Ай бұрын
So my guess is that you need to up the voltage if it was seated properly but.. if you aren't familiar with overclocking you might just leave it alone. Try to find a forum post on your cpu/ram and see if they have suggestions for ram. It might only need another 0.05V to be stable at overclock.

@TritonTv69420Ай бұрын
Dang that sucks. I would double check ram is seated properly. Turn pc off (full shutdown). Flip power switch off and let it sit for a few mins. Not sure if thos is desktop or laptop? Either way make sure ram is seated properly first. If that doesnt help try turning off xmp or expo. If that doesnt help start removing sticks when you test. If you have 4 now test 2, make sure you know which slots you motherboard wants for just 2. If same result try 1 at a time in the right slot. Its know that individual sticks can pass on their own but fail when in a group. If you can figure out which stick is causing issues see if you can rma the stick(s). Hope this helps.

Hi , if I just add SSD into slot 2 to Samsung, is this still same upgrade (speed increase) as change slot 1 SSD? My main concern is if I change slot 1 to new one and move factory one to slot 2 , do I need to clone process before change it?
@TritonTv69420Ай бұрын
Yea, if you are going to swap your main boot drive you will need to clone it FIRST. Samsung magician has a tool for this! You can test if the cloning works by removing the main drive AFTER cloning. You should be able to just swap the boot priority list with both still installed, you would place the cloned drive at the top and see if it boots up like normal. If it was me at that point i would check again that it boots into the cloned drive by removing the old one then booting into the new drive. If that works you can then format the old main drive and use it as a secondary drive. I haven't used it myself but I am sure it works. Download Samsung magician and use the "data migration" tool. It's under data management on the left. I doubt you will notice much difference between the pre-installed ssd and the samsung (or other brand). The differences are pretty minimal for most applications. I have played Resident Evil 4 remake and It ran just fine on the main drive. Either way hope this helps!

Thank you, Triton ... I approached this method is severe panic and trepidation. Frankly, I always avoided Memtest for fear of the 'drama' it requires of me. Thank you for removing the mystery behind it all. The odd thing is that my Memtest came with the image file, which I had to remove and copy to another drive location before I started the imaging process otherwise it would not start. That's the part you missed on your otherwise excellent video. Thanks again!

I am about to install a second 64gb kit into a system and I need some kind of bootable stress tester. I already know all four dimms work, but I need something to test the memory to make sure the timings are correct. Is there a test on Memtest 86 that hits it hard and fast like Aida64 does to see immediately if something is wrong? 128GB memory with the default testing method would take days.

I would start with this over night. Prime 95 has some good tests but they are cpu+ram tests, weighted towards cpu. You could try prime 95's individual tests as a quickie but that's inside the OS. Then move to the blended ones and whatnot. On my "how i got my i7 7700k overclocked @5.0ghz" video i talk about my testing in there. Cpuid has some tests too i believe.

Thanks for the video. I have two questions to ask but I plan on adding a 4 TB SSD once I order it online off Amazon but if I replace the 512 GB SSD with the 4 TB SSD will I lose all the stuff that I installed on the 512 GB SSD? Also it shows on my Acer Nitro 5 that there are available slots for 2 X SSD + 1 HDD so does that mean I can add a Gen 4 M.2 4 TB SSD without replacing the 512 GB SSD?
@TritonTv694205 ай бұрын
Hello. The motherboard on the acer nitro 5 has spots for 2 RAM sticks, 2 m.2 SSD's and 1 2.5" SATA storage device (can be HDD or SSD). If all you want to do is add the 4TB m.2 SSD then no need to clone and whatnot. If you remove your main boot drive yes you will want to back it up or clone it to another drive. If you really want to do that I suggest adding the second one that you want as your new main drive, then cloning it via samsung magician (called data migration) or similar software with a built in tool to actually clone the drive. Otherwise I feel like the best way to do that is create the windows install media (USB works fine) then get your second drive setup as a boot drive. Make sure it works to boot in to, then move all the files from the old boot drive to the new one. Then you can remove the smaller original one and replace with a larger one. Having a third USB drive is not a bad idea for something like that. You can move games and whatnot to that one then move over as needed. Hope this helps and good luck!

Pardon my ignorance, but does this require cloning/new windows install, or does this act as an addition to the existing drive?
@TritonTv694206 ай бұрын
Hey that is an excellent question! So in this instance I was simply adding a drive, so no cloning or new install needed. However, If i wanted to faster speeds of the samsung drive, I could have cloned the main boot drive to the faster drive (or fresh install). Then formatted the old drive to just be another extra storage device. Anytime you just add a drive AND as long as you don't reformat it, erasing the multiple partitions that are created during a fresh install, no extra steps needed. It's just plug new drive in and format it (tells windows or other OS, hey here is some free storage space, us it bro) then you can start using the new drive. When installing windows it typically makes 3 or 4 partitions on that drive. Other drives that aren't your boot drive typically only have 1 partition. Thanks for watching and hope this helps your understanding.

@TritonTv694206 ай бұрын
hmmm. Follow the writing directions carefully. I would keep the imaging program on a different drive. If your usb is drive k lets say, put the imaging file on a different drive. When it images it it does format and rewrite it. If it keeps giving you that error at least try to boot into bios and run the test. When is it giving you this error? right off the bat when you are still inside the imaging program? Or after when you try to click on the drive? Don't worry about being able to use the drive for anything else other than memtest after you image it. You will reclaim the space by formatting it later on in video. Hope this helps.
