the road conditions in the city, to the county are night and day, perks of a county with separate governments. The City of St.Louis MO and East St.Louis IL used to work together to maintain the downtown areas, but now Est St.Louis a ghost town with almost nothing because it was a big manufacture city for the Nation before 2000, wonder what happened?

I've been here twice when the mall inside the station still existed. Once, INXS was playing a concert in the area outside in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. I was there for a training for work and decided one night to go see the station, just happened on a concert. I know I didn't dream that but I'm not finding anything that says there were there in 2000. Either way, I'm sad that part is gone.

Such and Incredible facility and the craftsmanship and details that were so common back then are all gone.. we can spend billions of dollars on war and yet we wont spend money on building such incredible structures like these again... everything today is disposable
@portcybertryx2224 ай бұрын
It’s not about money. It’s about the architecture. Did you see the new Moynihan hall. It’s proof hat we can still build amazing structures it’s modern styles. Architects these days are taught about minimalism and optimization. The actual art in architecture and the detailing is often an afterthought. But that’s slowly changing. Buildings in NYC are leaning more into art deco and you can see the change

I used to live in the area. Lived in Marion , then went to school in Carbondale. This is the scenic route going north , although most of southern Il is the scenic route. 😂 Much nicer drive than going up 57. Although south is even nicer where the mountains start to open up. Just a little south of herrin, Shawnee national forest area. Very hot summers, no cities close by, bees and spiders that look like mutants haha. But very friendly nice place to live. Especially if you have a little money and can get a nice country house.

Class of '85. Most things I recognize, some things I don't. They tore down Tenth St. Stadium (where the Little 500 was run) and built the arboretum while I was there. Bill Armstrong Stadium was brand new that year as well. I met Bill Armstrong and also Herman B Wells. Suffered through no-win football season in 1984. Oh yeah, Bobby threw the chair my senior year. We didn't think it was all that big of a deal during the game as he had put his foot through a chair earlier in the game - they simply replaced it. All we knew was we were losing to Purdue and Bobby was getting technicals after bad calls. It was only after reading the paper the next morning that we noticed it was "going viral".

50 years ago, prior to 1974, Illinois was 65 mph on 2-lane roads, but little good it did, it only applied to cars, it was 55 for trucks (under 4 tons) and 50 for trucks over 4 tons.

That big city is one of the cleanest downtowns in the Midwest if not 1. I lived there 2 years spent all my time around the downtown area, and fountain square area, and little flower area, and speedway it the 16th largest city its fraking BIG!!. The people are very generous lots of nice bars, clubs, parks, and stores. The war monument with the tall statue is the biggest in Usa.stste of the art bus system, train, and airport is the easiest to enter and exit with the new system. look how clean it is everywhere, and surrounding areas too. I don't know what the fake media is talking about tho! Indy is not a dangerous city.
