Every guy in the golf Industry wants us to get fit $$$, I like to listen to what they have to say but I am the one that feels the clubs and see on the monitor all the data, dispersion, spin rate, ball flight, .... My daughter works spare time in a golf store, I use their sims and test clubs. Because I am not a pro, I always play stock shafts, I have a normal shape and I don't want to play with loft or lie or shaft size, I try to adjust to the club, anyway, I make some adjustments in my swing every week 🤣.
@brodyearnest4 күн бұрын
@@gmsvalley I feel that big time, always adjusting 😂
@thisjustanother5 күн бұрын
great video. the biggest thing that changed my game was getting fit for the shaft. how a player swings will alter how the shaft affects the ball flight and how it feels overall for the player. i use Modus 120s. always always always get multiple fits. if a fitter doesnt feel right to you, just move on and try another. good luck out there.
@brodyearnest5 күн бұрын
@@thisjustanother love that input. The more I learn, the more I realize the shaft is just as important as the club head itself!
@bennyboy07736 күн бұрын
They could have looked at your srixon data said seen a good decent angle of high 40's to low 50's, a decent carry with not too much roll and low dispersion and thought "We could spend hours and hours chasing inches of improvement when the one that you're hitting is plenty good enough", and especially when you say the mizuno was going further. At your level of golf handicap, further isn't as important as things like decent angle, launch, dispersion etc, and all it would do is force you to put another club in the bag between a PW and a gap wedge - because the mizuno's may have stronger lofts than the srixon - causing that distance gain - so focussing on gapping with your current setup could be better with the srixon. Or they have better markup on Srixon
@brodyearnest5 күн бұрын
@@bennyboy0773 amazing insight from you. Probably the most feedback I’ve gotten on a comment on the channel yet! I didn’t even consider the lofts of the clubs being different… which would obviously be the answer to the distance difference. The owner of the place has invited me back to dive a little deeper into srixon with a different fitter, and said the same thing you did, basically that spending all that extra time on chasing inches wouldn’t be worth it when the data was obvious to them. lol at the last line of your comment 😂
@bennyboy07735 күн бұрын
@@brodyearnest Yeah, fortunately most spec's are posted online, and typically each degree of loft will give you 3-5 more yards, so you will find a Srixon ZX5 7iron loft is 31 degrees, but a mizuno JPX 925 hot metal is 28degrees, which would definitely give you a significant distance increase. While there are other factors that affect launch, ground contact etc, the loft difference will play a large part of that . Sometimes distance can be the "wow factor" of some clubs, but actually consistency of distance is more important, and a good fitter will be able to look at your current set and help to identify what is best, based on your other clubs. As an example you may have 52,56,60 degree wedges, so you would want to either find something that has a higher lofted PW like 46-48degrees and buy 4-PW, or find a set that offers a GW, and go 5-GW and then transition into the other wedges. In the same element as above, the top of the bag is also considered, so you may want to look at the lowest lofted club in each setup and how they would transition to either a hybrid, or a 5W or 3W to try narrow the gaps to each other club - which could be done by lowering the loft of say a 4iron, and highering the loft of a GW, to bridge the gaps - but be aware changing the loft will alter the ball speed and the bounce on the club (altering the ground contact). One note is that Srixon have literally JUST announce the ZXi irons today, so it may have been they were hoping to sell you some ZX irons before the new ones to clear stock - but you may get a better deal, or the ZXi irons from today onwards. Sorry for the essay, there is a lot that goes into this sort of stuff and it can be a minefield if you've not had a proper fitting before
@brodyearnest5 күн бұрын
@ owner of the place has already reached out and offered another fitting for free with the new ones that were going to be announced which I’m excited for. Didn’t know it was today, I knew it was soon tho. Can’t wait to try those new ones and dive deeper with my driver/woods as well. Are you a fitter? You’re extremely knowledgeable and I’m learning a lot. Appreciate it
@bennyboy07735 күн бұрын
@@brodyearnest That's useful, just always be a little sceptical that he isn't trying to just secure your business. Make notes before you go in, of exactly what clubs you'd like to try, i.e Titleist T150, TM P770, Mizuno Pro 245, Ping Blueprint S etc, and exactly what you'd like to know: i.e Lie Angle, Long/Short adjustments, so that you're not overwhelmed during the process and come out again with not trying everything you want. At the end of the day, the fitting is for you, not for them, so even if a ZXi4 is the best for you, if you prefer the look of a T100, P7CM or whatever, it's your right to ask to try them as you may find you just like them more - either looks, feel, style - whatever it may be, and if they say no, then either accept it, or head elsewhere and get a second opinion. Not a fitter, but have been closely involved in golf for 20+ years and have also recently had a fitting myself from PXG and also a fitting at a national retailer and have seen the vast difference between a good and a bad fitting, If you go on the PXG website, you can find a local fitter to you, they do free fittings at the moment with no obligation to buy, so it may be worth trying them out too - if nothing else but to see the trackman data they use and get a solid baseline for your current clubs. I was sceptical, but genuinely surprised at how good the experience was.
