I just heard this song being play on the new Netflix series, "A Man on the Inside," starring Ted Danson. It's based on a true story about a senior citizen man hired to live in a retirement home to try and solve the theft of an heirloom necklace from one of the residents. It's a good series that give one lots of food for thought. This song fits perfectly at the end of episode 2. Love the strings with the piano . . . what a gift - thank you, Jackson.

That's funny, me too, I'm only here because of watching Netfix. I've never heard this song before. It's haunting.

@@craigslist3208 indeed he is. Jackson Brown, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Tom Waits, Joan Armatrading and John Martyn's music and voices seem to move me and affect in a way not many other musicians can. They truly have a gift.

Played this at my husband's funeral after his sudden death at 57. Jackson Browne was the last concert we'd been to together before his death. He was also the reason we'd got together 32 years before - I had the first album and he didn't. Thank you Jackson for years of music.

Many years ago I had a relationship with a very talented musician who played Jackson Brown songs including this one. This was in the 1970's, and after my college years we broke up, and I lost track of him until many years later when I found out that he froze to death in a park in LA. Whenever I hear Jackson's songs, I think of this boy and I wish him to be rested now in peace.

Lost my beautiful wife to cancer at 40. My life just stopped. I was left with two young children that needed guidance but I was in complete shock. As hard as I tried I couldn't find my way. I couldn't figure it out. At that time this song Jackson sang explained how I felt. I must have listened to it a thousand times. That was over 30 years ago. Today I am a 75 year old grandfather and I thank him for helping me cope with all that grief. It's an amazing song that helps me face deeply rooted feelings even today. Life goes on after the dancer has left the stage but the memories of her grace and beauty linger forever. Thanks Jackson for helping me carry on.

Lowell was in Zappa's Mothers as was Billy/Ritchie (I forget - but there're plenty of pictures in Cosmic Debris - the compendium. He could have played with Duane A but I haven't heard it. His Dad was a Furrier to the Stars in LA so he knew anyone he wanted to meet, hang with. I love WHFS Bethesda. On a payphone, I saw a group walking by & one had on an embroidered jean jacket with a Cover. I still wish I'd met that one. Billy had a trio w/Robben Ford & a second Drummer for The Feat (Eric Gage-?) in the 2000s (±2017) he signed a few things for me during intermission and 1 was the Zappa Compendium/ Encyclopedia Cosmic Debris. There're pics of Lowell & the other ones that formed Feat in the '68± era band. Lowell was a real Music Man who wasn't going to eat lunch at Frank's dinner table. We're lucky for FZs 'tude or we'd have no LF, missing persons...

I saw Jackson with David Lindley in Arcosanti, Arizona in the summer of 1976. For A Dancer continues to be one of my favorites. Lucky me got right up next to the stage and even got to meet him afterwards. When he began to sing Before The Deluge, monsoon clouds that were forming behind him started closing in and then about halfway through the song the clouds let loose, wind blowing, lightning and Jackson kept singing until he finished the song. I have never seen anything like that since. Those guys were real troopers to do that as all their equipment was also getting wet. A monsoon storm in Arizona is like no other. One of the best concerts I ever attended and I attended many during those college years.
