Likely we had many ancient temples that got demolished and the demolished materials got repurposed for new desert cult worship complexes. Hopefully there are archaeological artifacts and records yet to be exposed to link to the historically older part of this ancient but continuous living culture to the modern times.

There is one more temple in the same village. That temple is very popular as monsoon temple. But much more interesting thing about that temple is that it made in a style of stupa, with lord jagganath as the main deity. The priest claims that on the bottom of jaganath pratima there is an statue of pashupati nath of Harappa.

The title “Discovery of India” smacks of colonial mindset. Even on Nehru’s Discovery of India, Sardar Patel retorted “which India did he discover?”
@krishansaxena23892 ай бұрын
It was interesting to hear this account, obviously well researched. I have also heard that Indian sailors were making routine trips to southern tip of Africa and Vasco de Gama simply followed them to south India. The Portuguese ships carried cannons and were brutal in their behavior. Goa especially bore the brunt of their savagery of raping Indian and burning alive for not accepting Christianity. In our description of these marauders we do not need show them respect. They were in every sense marauders who were attracted to India for its wealth. The traders were well versed in warfare and erected fortified enclaves as they did in Americas.

Although I don't speak or read Hindi, I was able to discern (using a translation app) that this video was giving the background of the Indian connection to the Congreve rockets and HMS Minden's supposed connection with F.S. Key and the Star-Spangled Banner. So here are my findings on the latter subject. Francis Scott Key was NEVER on, nor did he write the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ on board HMS Minden during and after the bombardment of Fort McHenry at Baltimore. That is an apocryphal story that has been thoroughly debunked. Actually, HMS Minden served as the flagship of Admiral Sir Samuel Hood in his command of the East Indies station from January 1813 through December 1814. Documented dispatches from Admiral Hood on the Minden to the British Admiralty pinpoint it’s location and dates throughout that period. [Source: National Library of Australia, Public Records Office] Sample dispatch headings: "His Maj. Ship Minden, Prince of Wales’s Island, 7th August 1814” (Penang Island, Malaysia) "His Maj. Ship Minden at Sea off Prince of Wales’s Island, 22nd August 1814” "His Maj. Ship Minden, Madras Roads 22nd September 1814” "His Maj. Ship Minden, Madras Roads 19th Oct. 1814” Also, numerous archived newspaper articles from different cities in India & the surrounding region, (and Great Britain) regularly confirmed Minden's locations and function during that period. {These include the Bombay Gazette, the Calcutta Gazette, the Madras Courier, the Government Gazette (India), the Ceylon Government Gazette, and the Penang Gazette.} [Source: the British Newspaper Archives.] In addition, The National Museum of the Royal Naval has in it’s archives “A series of 7 letters written by Commander Herbert Clifford as Lieutenant on HMS Minden to his friend Robert Duke, May - September 1814. Written from Sumatra, Penang (Prince of Wales Island), Malacca, Java and Madras with detailed comments on the places visited.” - [ I have acquired high resolution copies of all seven letters.] Further testimony was provided by Basil Hall who served as Lieutenant on Sir Samuel Hood’s flagships from 1812 to 1815 in the East India Station. He kept extensive journals before, during and after that period. These were published in book form (multiple volumes) under the title "Fragments of Voyages and Travels". In the "Third Series, Volume II" (1833) he gives detailed accounts of their adventures throughout the East India Station with Admiral Hood, starting on HMS Illustrious and then on HMS Minden. One excerpt reads "In the summer of 1814 [Admiral Hood] made a voyage, in his majesty’s ship Minden, to the eastern parts of his station." And from the book 'The British in Java, 1811-1816' (Peter Carey editor) and from the "Java Almanac (ships) -Arrivals and Departures 1814-1815" we learn: "He eventually arrived at Semarang, Java on 29 June 1814. Hood then "sailed on the Minden from Batavia on 1 August 1814 for Madras, where he [later] died on 24 December of that year.” From all the documented evidence, it is clear that HMS Minden was nowhere near North America during the period in question, but rather was stationed in and around the Sea of Bengal. It should also be pointed out that F.S. Key was NOT on any British ship when this battle took place. He, along with Col. John Skinner and the released prisoner Dr. William Beanes, were allowed (upon Skinner’s insistence) to return to their American flag-of-truce vessel, under guard, while tethered to the frigate HMS Surprise (temporary flagship of vice admiral Alexander Cochrane). That is where Key witnessed the 25 hour bombardment of Fort McHenry (Sept. 13-14, 1814) and afterward started sketching the words to his famous song. Sources: “Incidents of the War of 1812” - (John S. Skinner’s first hand account) Letter from Roger B Taney to Charles Howard (Recounts F.S. Key's own testimony to Taney after the Battle.) According to the latest research, the name of the 60 foot packet sloop Key was on is believed to be the Stephen Decatur, captained by John Ferguson (co-owner of the ship) with a nine man crew. The negotiation for the release of Dr. Beanes (Key’s friend) had taken place aboard HMS Tonnant (admiral Cochrane’s flagship) a week before (Sept. 7), near the mouth of the Potomac River. The fleet then sailed up the Chesapeake Bay toward Baltimore. I have done exhaustive research on this subject and have shared my findings with noted historian Scott Sheads who has also done extensive study on this. He was quite impressed with the heavily documented information I provided and I learned a number of things from him. I hope this comment proves helpful in clearing up a long perpetuated myth about HMS Minden. As near and dear this fabled story seems to be to many Indians, knowing the accurate truth about history is far more important. Besides, the amazing story of the Wadia family master ship builders in Bombay is plenty to be proud of by itself.
