Russia has an online archive of WW2 military records. 5 members of my family on mother's side all served - 2 killed in action and one died from his wounds in hospital. All were from the same village. When I searched the archive for their records, I was struck by how many there are for that one village. It is a relatively small village and always was but there are hundreds upon hundreds of records of enlistments, discharges, military awards and deaths. I realised that majority of men (and many women, too) in that village served and most of them did not return. That's just one village among thousands... And then, soon after the war, there was a famine in 1946-47 where 900,000 people died, so my grandparents left Russia for good and moved to Central Asia to survive, and many of their fellow villagers along with them. Such was the reward for their sacrifice...

I don't even think you need the lie. Forget the climate, modern industrial farming requires a lot of heavy machinery which requires a lot of fuel, it requires a lot of fertiliser, a lot of pesticides, logistics to get the harvest to the supermarket or to other food industries to refine and processe it in to food which are in and of themselves very resource intensive. With nuclear war it means strategic targets for oil rigs, refinery, the power grid, ports, logistical hubs and so on would be completely destroyed which means the industrial scale of agriculture and the huge logistical system to fuel it and bring it to your plate are completely gone. You don't need a scared uninhabitable rock to destroy the food supply. On top of that most people don't know how to grow their own crops and don't have enough food stock piled to last until they could see any kind of fruits of said crops, most people dont know how to raise and kill their own live stock. You get the picture most people would die anyway in a worse case senario.

Thank you for a very thoughtful and insightful video. You may not be a scientist but you have grasped the concepts very well. Yes there can be (and should be) doubt about any particular study but when one after the other comes back with about the same results, one has to admit that something is there; maybe the higher numbers are wrong (or the smaller ones), but there is something there. When people tell me that “it’s all theories anyway” I always invite them to jump from a tall building to show how the theory of gravity is just a theory. Yes, there is a lot we currently don’t know about gravity, but what we do know is enough to put satellites around the Earth, send probes to furthest reaches of our solar system and detected gravity waves. The same is true with climate, there are lots of variables and might not be sure how all of it works, but we know enough to make good predictions.

9:10 THAT is a highly disputed claim - one which I certainly do not share. However, many people will only ever mention 6 million Jews as having been the victims of the Holocaust while ignoring all the others that were exterminated alongisde them. Personally, I regard these people as Holocaust deniers.

Here's the thing. Any prediction is going to be wrong. For sure, with certainty. However, the consequences of being optimistically wrong are so high that we can not afford it as a civilization. Remember, survival of a civilization is far more difficult than just the survival of the species.

Counts the Soviet Intervention in Hungary but ignores the Bombing of Serbia by NATO or the Post-Yugoslav Wars entirely. American Selfdelusion is impressively strong, even among those who genuinely try to understand.
@thescottishanimeguy9946
@thescottishanimeguy9946 5 күн бұрын
The yugoslav Wars was basically a civil war as the nation dissolved. it's not a state on state war between two existing states. It was a war where constituent parts of that nation were breaking away. People also love to ignore the context behind the nato bombing of Serbia. Again, it was an intervention in an existing civil conflict between Serbian forces and Kosovo Serbs. The Hungarian revolution was rising against soviet power itself, so from the get-go, it was an inter-state war.

@joaopadua7134 no it was a war, the Hungarian govt did not request soviet support and the Hungarian leaders were removed from power to be replaced by staunchly pro-russian. If it was Hungarian troops that suppressed it then yes it would have been, but they didn't.

Hmmm. 3 years ago Freeman Dyson was still alive... and still unconvinced by 'the science'. Models, he said, 'can never really be predictive', because climate is too complex and we don't know all of what determines it. There are tens of billions spent on supporting this story, and next to nothing but ridicule for the dozens of physicists who will tell you it's shoddy science. Those facts didn't really come through in this otherwise well done video. And, btw, the main temperature graph is, I'm afraid, dubious. As Dyson said, 'measuring temperature is hard', and, 'there's every reason for doubting those measurements'.

I can’t believe out of all the possibilities of nuclear fission we spent the most time, effort, resources, etc. on the most evil aspect of it. The fact that the end of life on earth as we know it is only one button push away. All it takes is for a single bad actor to be having a bad day to snuff out the existence of all life. I know I’m super oversimplifying it but still a nuclear apocalypse is a genuine fear that occupies my mind sometimes

I believe what I want to believe and hope is true. That civilization is collapsing, and we're in the midst of an unstoppable near-term climate-caused extinction event. In Darwinist terms, humanity has proven itself unfit to survive, and extinction events throughout planetary history have always proven beneficial. The planet needs to be rid of us.

You need to recheck the death ranges. You are off on the death rate and circles of impacts. Nuclear circle, fire, pressure, and then radiation. Example would be New York city at a population around 8.3 million, If a nuke went off at the center of NYC project death total would be about 5.67 to 6.4 million people dead/missing in the first 72 hours with more rising depending on weather, wind, etc due to the radiation. You neglected the tunnel effect of cities to spread radiation and debris and the physical collapse of infrastructure.

There's a serious mistake @03:17. It wasn't just Germany who started WWII, it was Germany and its ally, Soviet Russia, who both started the war. They both signed Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact of aggression in late August and invaded Poland in September. Also, I wouldn't trust Allied, including Soviet, sources in regards to estimate of Soviet casualties here.
