Thanks for the info, I would probably be mad if i replaced the sensor and still had the same issue. Mine is acting the same way, Idles like crap, no speedo or canceling turn signals. I have a 2001 electra glide

This video helped me a lot. I do have to change my speed sensor because I’m getting erratic readings on my speed but of all the videos I’ve seen about pulling the starter taking the other side off taking the exhaust off. This is the most efficient if you don’t have time to disassemble your bike.

Where did you run your wires to from the fuel pump

Did the headlight go on and off randomly? I’ve got the same issues WITH the random on/off headlight. Thx

Anyone ever notice that the old tools kits you used to get with your bikes are rendered useless today with all the new technology? I miss the days when all we needed was a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to fix any vehicle to get back on the road.

Awesome info, that answers all of my questions about the speed sensor, thanks for sharing

Thanks for uploading the video sideways so we have to break our neck to see whats going on. Its not even a real "fuel pump change" video. Your just explaining what you did to replace the fuel pump without showing anything. I really hate this video appears at top of the algorithm when searching for "honda magna fuel pump replacement" Typical boomer.

I just got a 2000. My Speedo works fine when it’s cold, but after it warms up it goes wonky. I can usually get about 25-30 miles and the it starts to fluctuate up and down, sporadic, then go to zero, then back up, back and forth, up and down. Eventually after maybe 5 or 10 miles of that it just plain quits and stays at zero. Once the bike has cooled completely it’s all good again for about 25-30 miles. Do you have any ideas? It just seems temperature related to me.

I just eliminated that stupid 2nd tank. Tan the line from main tank to pump. Fuck that crap.

So you bypassed the reservoir and just sent gas straight to the fuel pump?

My 84 magna 700 just left me stranded today. For 6 hours with no cell service I like this idea does it still work out? My primary tank currently has many pin holes that I have to solder back closed and repaint so I guess I get that opportunity tomorrow

I am troubleshooting my 1986 Honda magna. It runs good all the sudden I’ll be driving on the road and it just bogs down and dies. . Most the time I’ll pulled over wait just a minute and fires right back up but there’s been a couple times where it dies like that usually when I’m driving down the road it just dies. Last time it died and I couldn’t get it to fire back up and got stranded in a parking lot until I prayed and miraculously it started for me even after I had drained the battery down. Some people say it could be the starter. Other say the fuel pump. I’m not really sure where to start I’m not much of a mechanic.

the honda manual says you have remove the tank and drain all the fuel out to replace the godamned filter. I'm looking for a way out of that.

Good vid, got a 73 v45 750 magna , traded for a glock, found the bottom tank was totally rotched (rust, not leaking) filter was plugged, pump was good, fixed all that(lined the tank) BUT decided to do a valve adjust (it needed it ) what a pain in the ass, still working on lining the tank so isn't running, hope to get it fired up soon, what a pain in the ass bike to work on.

Sweet bike. I picked up an '84 for $300, had to go through the entire fuel system, rusted and shit. Yours idles pretty rough, sounds like your carbs need synched. It's not hard to do, there are great vids here on YT to see. Happy riding!

nice video I just bought one 1983 Honda Magnum I can't get my gas cap open the key doesn't work so I drove it I still can't get it open I took the tag off all debris in it I still can't get the damn latch to open up to put gas in it I drain the secondary gas tank I hook it up to a battery I'm getting no fuel spitting out going to my engine I've been on it for 2 days and I'm trying to get it going can't seem to find the problem so I'm thinking it's the fuel pump so I should be getting some kind of gas coming out but I'm not any ideas
