Hi, Thanks for your comment. There's no need to wear gloves, it's no different to handling meat in your own kitchen, and our presenters wash their hands thoroughly afterwards. In fact, it's safer not to wear gloves since it gives you a better grip and you can also identify structures by their texture. Thanks for watching. :) Paul

These are pig lungs, but pig and human lungs are pretty similar. Scientists often think of how pigs' bodies work when researching potential new medicines! - Gemma

@@wethecurious I always wonder why we use animals lungs? Can't we just use a human donor? Docters have it why can't anybody else use it?
@wethecurious26 күн бұрын
There are a few reasons. In the UK we have a law saying that people can donate their body parts to science - and you have to be very specific about how those donations are used. Many people would prefer their donations to be used in medicine because there is an obvious benefit for other people. But also, people don't always agree that we should be using human donations in dissections. For some people, that could bring up a lot of emotions that they may not want. Pig lungs are similar enough to human lungs that we can still learn a lot from dissecting them. I hope that helps! - Gemma

@wethecuriousАй бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. We love Ross too. :) Even though it might seem odd not to wear gloves, they are purely optional when it comes to dissections like this. The tissue is fresh (it is stored in a freezer after collection), we disinfect all surfaces before and after dissections, and so long as you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards, you'll be fine. So, it all comes down to personal preference. Some choose to wear gloves, but others find they can get a better grip (since an eyeball is very slippery!), and identify various structures by their texture. If you're interested in heart dissections I can recommend another of Ross' videos. Let us know what you think. :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3aWimCOh510rpYsi=dQIovw-mhY77WXSv

see i always thought lungs where just empty and had, tube to the empty lungs, and the cilia like did something with the air or something happened with the air and turn it to oxygen which got me thinkin HMMM HOW DO LUNGS WORK? and now i realize they are solid materials that have roots and air sacs at the end of said roots which is what gets the oxygen and uses it, has veins attatched that exchange said oxygen and send it to the heart and rest of the body and releases co2 in the sacs that is exhaled through the roots, bronchi, trachea, and out the mouth. the same way the o2 came but backwards and with Co2, its wild i never realised this until today, and whats even more wild is how deceiving online picture drawing/diagrams are of the lungs because they can look empty

Nope absorption of solar energy by leaf is about 70%. The one of the best solar panel is 30%. Then how will leaf consume the absorbed energy? Many. First foods production and regeneration by electric splitting and reassembling elements, water pumping-up by creating vacuum of tree top branch and stem from root, absorbing water vapors from air to keep leaves humid, own water production to prevent dryness of leaf. One interesting experiment. When you are under the big shadow tree, you feel cooler. Then when you stand under solar panel, you feel warmer. Why? Solar panel has larger light resistance and electricity resistance that all produce heat. Solar energy is composed of light wave and radiation electromegnetic waves. Leaf can absorb both but solar panel is only light wave, splitting and discarding the other. That is why you feel warmer under the panel.

There is a way mind over matter gets included since being nervous, rushing and pushing your feet down will actually burn your feet. Mythbusters showed this, albeit jokingly i think.

Yes, I've seen that one too. Adam from Mythbusters rushed across and got a hot coal stuck to his foot. As Ross demonstrated in our video, it pays to familiarise yourself with the science and the right technique first. :) Paul

@wethecurious2 ай бұрын
We have done experiments on Earth to determine the exact colour given off by each element. The colour for each element is so specific, some people think of it like that element's fingerprint. The light that reaches us from the sun has the fingerprints for mostly hydrogen and helium. So in a way it's almost like the sun is reaching out to poke us and tell us what it's made of! - Gemma

How do the bees receive the info in the waggle dance? Through sight or vibrations or being close to the dancing bee and feeling? Or some other way?
@wethecurious3 ай бұрын
Great question! You're absolutely right, rather than actually seeing the dance with their eyes, the bees sense air vibrations through their antennae, which are held close to the dancing bee. But it's not just about vibrations. The bees can also smell the pollen brought back by the dancing bee. The dancer may even regurgitate some nectar to convey the smell! Paul

REALLY? "no one knows how the dust sticks together to form planets"??? One of the International Space Station astronauts noticed years ago that small particles in microgravity started sticking together due to ***STATIC ELECTRICITY*** ;) Astrophysicists quickly realized that that was likely the 1st step of planet formation: static electric clumping of dust to sand sized particles, then pebbles, then boulders and then gravity taking over, then steroids and then proto planets :) I think you really need to redo your video and find the other outdated data and update it :)

Our Earth is unique because it has a Magnetic field around it - THAT protects our atmosphere from being whhoooshed into space and it protects us from burning up ! Our Earth has WATER & a MOON which creates tides in that water - That is where LIFE begins and grows & grows. No water = No Life. There are Bizzillions of Planets - there won't be many like OUR EARTH !
