Tried changing strings on my granddaughter's Krimse banjo and I have never been more frustrated in my entire life. Guitar player for over 40 years so I thought this would be fairly easy but the string cover doesn't lift up like other banjos where KZbin has string changing instructions. Trying to get the loop on the notch and keeping it there while I thread the whole string through is nothing short of a nightmare for me. It keeps slipping off. So ready to throw this thing in the in the bin and getting her a different banjo. Any tips from those who have changed strings would be appreciated.

Also the High G peg slid out while I was turning the banjo over. Really?

It sounds like you are having a frustrating experience. Keeping the tension on the strings is certainly tricky! You could use gator clips to hold the string loop in place while threading the string. Let me know if that works. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Mine fell out too! It is not surprising if the instrument was built in a humid environment and then travels to a drier environment. When the wood dries and shrinks, the peg can become loose. I did a video showing how Kmise suggested fixing it. They suggested using Teflon tape. It worked, but more experienced banjo luthiers I know suggested using paper instead of Teflon tape. You can see it here.: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGi9ZniajtVnZ7ssi=3s167Axr9wUiEMbK

@ The repair guy said without re-tapping for the peg, it would have issues holding the tune. The cost involved with that was more than the price of the banjo. I didn’t understand the difficulty of changing the strings. I made a huge mistake by removing all of the strings like I do with my guitar. The guy at the music store said that people will often have someone else change their strings, I appreciate that more now. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for posting this one Steve. Several years ago I made a sit upon cajon with drum snares and put a kick pedal on it after watching our good friend Kale's video. Now you gave me the idea to put Velcro mounted tambourine symbols on it. They would be louder than the drum snares mounted on the inside of the box. Gotta give it a try!

Was just about to pull the trigger on this before i found your helpful video. I really like how this "attaches" to the guitar, unlike some other models that need a patch cable and sit on their own. But i wish there were headphone capabilities. Do you know if there is a similar product that does what the joyo does, with headphones in? That would be amazing for my needs. Thanks!

Great video! Sir, in your opinion what is the best concert ukelele in the market?
@stevesstrings5243
@stevesstrings5243 21 күн бұрын
That's a tough question! There are so many well-built instruments out there these days. Add the fact that looks and sound are very subjective, so all I can say is what I like. Another factor is the price point! That said, I can definitely recommend this Bondi ukulele. Of the other concert ukuleles I have reviewed, I especially like the Aklot AKC23, the Kmise M2067, the Donner DUC1, and the recent Vangoa VU703 ukulele I reviewed. Check out those reviews of mine and see what you like! Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@stevesstrings5243 Many thanks for your thorough and early response. I love the ukelele sound since it is so crisp, bright and joyful but I don't like when you cannot distinguish the notes properly I mean I'd love an ukelele where you can play fast chords and notes and you can notice each and every different sound. I'll check your reviews on the other models you cited. Many thanks again.

The neck was a 3-foot-long 1x2 piece of poplar, and the box was 7" by 10". You can make the neck any length you want and use whatever string gauges that work for the tuning you are looking for. It will work on most typical medium-sized cigar boxes. Give it a try! Thanks for watching and commenting!

LOL! You would be disappointed. The woodworking and painting took place in my driveway (because my garage looks like an episode of "Hoarders"). I did not use many specialized tools. I used a miter saw for the scarf joint cuts, some clamps for gluing, and a pull saw and belt sander to thin and shape the headstock and bridge. A farrier's rasp and Shinto rasp made short work of shaping the neck. I used a drill, a screwdriver, a combination square, a rubber mallet (to install frets), fret nippers, a file, a fret sanding beam (made from a level), a soldering iron, and a hot glue gun. That's about it. I made a video a few years ago on how to make a cbg without a saw. The point was that you don't need many tools to make a cbg. Thanks for watching and commenting!
