Thank you! I am teaching a high school chemistry class for a classical co-op this year. This video sealed the deal on what curriculum to buy. I am not a teacher by trade, but have taken multiple college level chemistry courses. What thoughts do you have on setting up the syllabus for a co-op that meets 30 weeks when the book is designed for 36 weeks?
@Well-DoingMomma2 ай бұрын
@@stellerkags doing it in 30 weeks will be tough. Two options I see. 1. Move through faster so you will have less than 2 weeks per chapter. If I did this I would not do the test for every chapter but probably do some quizzes and then quarterly tests. 2. Cut some of the material, probably the last 2 chapters. Any kids that want to do advanced chemistry would need to work through those on their own afterwards to be well prepared for advanced chemistry. I guess a third option is for the last 4 chapters to cover them more surface level and write your own quiz/ test for them. Just my thoughts. It is an honors level course so any of those options give them a solid chemistry base.

Would you say this covers social studies and geography? Or more social studies?
@Well-DoingMomma2 ай бұрын
So geography is part of social studies. Social Studies would include history, geography, government, economics (maybe something else im' not thinking of right now). So yes this is geography , which makes it social studies. It doesn't have memorizing alot of specific places (although that would be easy to add in if you want to) but it is more about the areas of the world.

My 11yo just finished Memoria Press Greek Myths book and then went into Book of the Ancient Greeks (middle school level). There really wasn’t a whole lot of difference in difficulty. So I would say it is totally fine for an older kid. I think they labeled it for younger students, because they ran out of time in schedule for middle grades.😆

I have really enjoyed watching my group of kids learn this material.

We are going to be more than likely using ELA Level 3 for TG&B. We haven't used TG&B before. I did do the Reading Assessment Placement for my son & daughter. They both were able to pass the Level 3. My questions are should we start out with the Level 3 or start back at least ELA Level 2 just because they haven't used this ELA before? I'm asking because looking at Level 2 some they haven't mastered & this is a Spiral Curriculum. I know there are some Gaps, but if I'm teaching the material and utilizing the Apps along side with working 1 on 1. I will be starting this over the summer as I want to keep going and catch them up. I know Level 4 is not for them yet & it possibly wouldn't hurt going back to the Level 2. But, they can read the Level 3 even though they could be missing out on some of what is taught in the Level 2. Would this affect them to much by starting out in the Level 3.
@Well-DoingMomma5 ай бұрын
I just flipped through my level 2 book and the only thing I see that hasn't been retaught in level 3 is irregular past tense and irregular plural nouns. I'm sure it is reviewed a little in level 3 but can't remember seeing it alot. If your kids are reading pretty well then they probably naturally know those. Or you can teach as you hit those spots in level 3 ( you could possibly print those lessons for free from tgtb if you wanted to). So yes I think starting with level 3 would be great. You can always go at a faster speed if they are doing well so they can move to level 4 sooner. I think level 3 does a good job solidifying all the information before level 4. There is a good jump into level 4. Hope that helps! If not feel free to ask me to clarify. 😊
@rachelosantowski85245 ай бұрын
It says they don’t have to have Spelling, Writing & Grammar mastered that it is reviewed through the courses. Which they are the lacking or not the strongest in these areas. If this is the case should I start them in the Level 3? They would be new to TG&B. They can pass the Level 3 Reading Assessment within the 90 seconds & about 2 word errors. They passed the Level 2 Reading Assessment with no problem & fluently. My question is should I just review the Lessons 1-8 Prep with them & just start on Level 3 ELA Course? Or start in Level 2 without Booster Cards & the Books only using the Course Book?
@Well-DoingMomma5 ай бұрын
@@rachelosantowski8524 I would just start with level 3. It reviews really well and I think it sounds like they will do well with that.

Your Aldi Velveeta stores great in the refrigerator, in a zip lock bag with the foil on it. It is delicious on sandwiches and burgers. You do need a cheese slicer with a wire. It does not shred well though I haven't tried it with the cheese being frozen. That style of cheese has been around for a very long time. If you know anyone who received commodities in the 60's - ? (I don't know if commodities are still available for low income or not.).
