Ellooooo I got a question,if you don’t mind answering,what were your grades through out high school ❤
@florieshab8 күн бұрын
ellooooo~ i'm gonna be so honest with you.. lol, i was a straight a student ( i was such a little over achiever 🤓) i will say though, these study abroad programs mostly pay attention to your college transcript...unless you plan on going abroad in high school, then I guess your grades would matter then. But i do think that the minimum gpa for studying abroad is 3.0 (i would double check though!) 🤗🤗

Is it hard to get accepted to yonsei????
@florieshab16 күн бұрын
to be honest, that is a hard question for me to know exactly and answer honestly... i feel like as an international student, it may be less challenging seeing that yonsei wants and encourages international/foreign students to attend the university. hopefully that answers your question a bit ☺️

Hi. May I ask if studying Communications in Korea is relevant. I mean, would I find a tangible employment opportunity if I do a master’s in this course?
@florieshabАй бұрын
Hiieee :) I think it would be best to do some research and see what jobs are available to foreigners who have master degrees in Communication. I've been told by many though that knowing how to speak Korea will give you a leg up and provide you with much more job opportunities! Good Luck 🤗

It amazes me how white males are always used as the example for any given topic, usually in a negative manner and about the power they abuse across the world, the part that amazes me is 5% of the world's population is white males. So I would like to know why did the 95% of the world population allow this to happen if it were true
@JibranJonny2 ай бұрын
Please reply "I have studied a 3-year DAE in ICT and my percentage is 71%, with Grade A and I am not in the top 20% of my class. The major I want to apply for is fashion design, for which I have considerable knowledge and fashion design diploma online certificates. I have also completed an internship in the IT field, and I am thinking of clearing TOPIK level 1. Can I apply gks -U ?"

I thought in America, its black men who are seen as the most masculine, not white men.
@florieshabАй бұрын
Historically, especially in Western media, Black men's masculinity is often villainized and perceived as threatening, in contrast to white masculinity. In movies like The Birth of a Nation or Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, whiteness acts as the "norm'" and makes anyone else look "different" or "other". For example, Black men are shown to possess a threatening/hyper-sexualized form of masculinity, and Asian men are shown to possess an emasculated/soft/feminine version of masculinity. Both portrayals are viewed as inferior to white masculinity, which can lead to negative consequences for both Black and Asian men.
@gobyfish13992 ай бұрын
In Asia itself, majority of men are not soft masculine. Majority of Asian men in Asian countries don't like to be soft masculine and majority of Asian women don't either. This soft feminine look for men is a recent thing, around the 1980's Japanese anime, then K pop, then now Chinese entertainers, given the thousands of years of Asian history, feminine men is a recent trend, also linked with Western feminism ( masculine women ). The rest of Asian entertainment, movies, TV is more masculine men. And mostly tween females like femme men, ironically in the patriarchal East and the feminist West. I guess, when Asian women are oppressed and Western women think they are oppressed, they both go for the soft man who is "non threatening". Non threatening also means you can't defend yourself or the women, and you are emotionally and physically weak. Here oppressed Asian women and feminist Western women find common ground. Irony indeed. I'm a gay Asian man from Asia in his 50's.
@florieshabАй бұрын
You bring up so many good points! I totally agree. I do think this softer masculinity look is a newer phenomenon. I still have a lot to learn about AAPI representation in Western media, but your point is really interesting! When I started watching K-dramas, I noticed that the male leads were portrayed as masculine, just in a different way than we usually see in Western media. It actually made me see Asian masculinity in a more positive light. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences! ☺

Interesting video! As an androgynous FTM person, growing up with K-pop has likely influenced both my self-image and my sense of attraction. There are definitely many negative stigmas, especially if you're a boy group fan in the West, where you'll often face criticism. The way masculinity is viewed outside of the West, particularly in relation to race, is very interesting.
@florieshabАй бұрын
Thank you!! But yes I absolutely agree with you... k-pop has even changed the way I understand masculinity... like it challenges those toxic and heteronormative beliefs around masculinity. But I am glad you enjoyed the video :)

What made you decide on Yonsei? Currenly looking at different schools in seoul, but the main contestans for my program is Yonsei and Korea University. And since you lived in the dormitory, what is it like to have a roommate? I can't really decide weather to pick a solo room or double room, since I can see the pros and cons for both. Btw love you videos <3
@florieshab3 ай бұрын
Awwwee thank you so much for your support and love!! 💕 I mainly chose Yonsei because it seemed more international friendly. Most of the content creators I found on youtube went there, so that helped me a lot. As for korea university, I wasnt able to get any insider look of typical foreigner life there, especially women of color. But people from korea did tell me that KU is much more rigorous in academics while Yonsei is in the dab middle of seoul and the life of international students are more fun. Hopefully that is helpful ☺️

Yesssss, I love seeing other black girls venturing out and seeing new places. I wanted to study abroad in Korea too but due the costs I kinda of gave up on doing study abroad the traditional way so I decided to do a budget version. Currently I am taking online classes from my college in America while I am doing a working holiday in Korea. And finically I think it’s one of the best decisions I could have made and since I have some scholarships and found some cheap housing here I’m only gonna end spending a little over 5k for this semester in Korea (this is including everything except the flight).

Congrats!! That's amazing that you found a way to make it happen. I really commend you! Also 5k is pretty good!! I hope you enjoy your time there 🤗
