I did enjoy the video. It took me back 50 years as we moved away when I was 11 years old. I also went to both the infant and junior schools. I remember the chimney very well although we knew that site as Elliot’s scrap yard; the site of many imaginative play days. I recently found a video on KZbin of the 1969 Deepcar village garden fete held at St John’s. Lo and behold there’s my mum and me walking next to the young girl being crowned village queen (something like that). My uncle Bob (Lewin) used to manage Lowood club for a time I believe. Anyway, a nice trip down memory lane thanks.
