This guy is an amazing historian, story-teller, and writer. I find myself recommending his The Toronto Book of the Dead to all sorts of people, from my colleagues and students at the University of Toronto - where I teach history - to my friends and family. It's filled with great stories, quirky yet very believable portraits of real people, fascinating events, and historical insights about the past and how the past lives on in the present. It's also a book that can be read in short chunks of time, as most chapters are just 10 to 20 pages long. I want to second Marissa's comment: Adam please keep writing.

When my mother was at Branksome she saw Portia White casually several times and was struck by her elegance, warmth and kindness toward the girls who chanced to meet her but she was impressed especially at effortlessly she charmed Dr Read, who was a quite formidable character and nobody to mess with.

NATO is a mafia group commanded by a world Mafia, aka DISNEYLAND! opressor of the poor countries (Africa, L.A., Caribbean Islands, etc, etc. who doesn't care about people but about it's economical interests). You are from Europe, you support NATO and Disney, because you don't care about the people of the world).😂😂😂

Just for any doubters: now more than ever, here in "Eastern" Europe we're very greatful and relieved that NATO accepted our pledge to be included in the alliance. Our position since 2014 would be under constant threat of repeated occupation or at least "Belarussification" and in case of Ukraine losing its soverignity a definite next target (my country mentioned here as #1 among them) for subjugation in all ways possible. We're not willingly going back to age of barbaric empires, so the word "expansion" has turned out to be very misleading and used as a weapon to false autocrat narratives. NATO *grew* in accordance to natural geopolitical interests of ourselves and the future of our people, which was *not* even opposed by Russian or any other goverment at the time it happened. We won't let history to be overwritten again.

You're right. Canada is history. Ancient history. What was Canada is now an unnamed country somehow part of the African continent. It's still A-frican country but it's not the one I knew. And the death cult of Islam is taking over. Great job feminists, being against having children. Guess who's coming here to take over. Islamists, who don't regard women as anything but property. So it looks like your independence is going to lead to your enslavement. Ironic.
