Nice review, I appreciate your time an effort. I also had a pad slipping issue. My "jerry rig" solution was to put a small strip of Velcro on the back of my sleeping pad and then on the floor of the tent. So far so good. Maybe 30 nights of use.

It definitely can be an enjoyable way to travel. As a goal motivated person, I found it hard to not have a specific goal in mind for each day. But as it went on, I realized that the goal is what drives me in longer outings.

Avoid - even though hardly used and undamaged, my duplex leaks through a dozen or so invisible holes in the DCF. Because I'm a dry weather hiker, I didn't discover this until after the warranty period expired. zPacks response was "our tents have a limited life, here's some repair tape". So now I have a non-waterproof tent with repair patches all over it.

Interesting experience, I’ve had three Zpacks tents now and zero issues with holes.

Do you have to use a base layer under the Peloton 97? I am wondering if this piece can be used by itself as a base layer? Or would I need a T-shirt base layer under this? Thank you!

No base layer needed, this can definitely been worn without anything under it and be comfortable.

One thing I've never understood about the Duplex ,and it sounds like this tent, is why not give a couple more inches overhang of the fly over the floor and eliminate rain splash back and the chance of the floor from pushing out. The tent is so light to begin with why not eliminate these problems? It would only add a couple of ounces. Those of us that camp in the mountains can't find level spots very often.

thanks for the review. Why not add clips to the fly sides that don't open up so that you can disconnect them from the ground and open the flys fully? You have peak tieouts so the tent will still stay taut. I don't know why Zpacks doesn't do this. Am I missing something?
@LeonidasontheTrail3 ай бұрын
Its a good point, you could definitely modify it back to a similar design with the clips like the original. You would need to mod a way to hold the short side door back but that shouldn't be a big deal.

You have the head and foot ends the wrong way around. It is wider at the taller end (50") to accommodate mummy shaped pads and narrower at the foot end (44") for the same reason. If you need convincing, look at the product description and photos on their product page and their set up video.
@LeonidasontheTrail3 ай бұрын
Thanks, I must have missed that when I originally looked at the pictures.

@@LeonidasontheTrail No worries! By the way, I liked your comment about the doors - the correct sleeping position does have the annoyance of feeling more closed-in at the head-end because of the door arrangement. I wonder if future versions will allow the user to tie back either or both doors on each side? I personally would prefer that option, like on the Duplex.

Dont stuff dyneema! Fold it keeping it flat as opposed to a cylinder. My tent has lasted so much longer than previous ones. The thermarest pump sack makes a good bag for a 2p dyneema tent making it duel use.

This is a different take on the offset duo and more of a practical review and comparison to the duplex. I think I would prefer the rainbow door. Thoughts? 🦑
@LeonidasontheTrail4 ай бұрын
I’m still undecided on the doors. I didn’t like that the rainbow door generally fell out of the tent and into the wet, but the new door needing to be tied up to be out of the way is kind of annoying in certain situations.

Awesome video! I've always been super interested in the bear canister specifically for the reason of convenience and ease of use. I've never really cared too much about weight if it improves my experience. Love the ideas about using the lids and Cook station or a plate. Brilliant.
@lucybarrington46345 ай бұрын
I love it. I have always preferred a bear canister. It’s slightly amusing to me how UL backpacking has become such a competition with some people on KZbin that they don’t even want to carry an extra pair of socks or a chapstick and their first aid kit consists of a single bandaid and an Imodium pill. You really laid out the case for bear canisters well. There are other ways to help keep your weight reasonably low and still enjoy your hike, get a good nights sleep and not have the aggravation of a food bag to hang or the worry over bears and other critters.
