What time of year and time of day, Jim? Last time I tried it was a queue of camper vans and no chance to overtake - even if you had a G551!

Beautiful drive and wonderful engine note. How hard is it to maintain this car? The W211 wasn't known for its reliability, so I'm rather happy for those that manage to keep going.

Thanks. This one has covered 41k miles now and I imported it from Japan at the beginning of 2023. It was so clean underneath that the suspension parts still had the stickers on even after 17 years! I’ve done some preventative maintenance with changing the supercharger water pump and a couple of pulleys as well as the belts. Apart from this it has been on so far. The M113K engine has a reputation for being long lived and I’m a big fan of them with this bing my second of these engines. The other is in the G55 and it sounds very different. I also had to change the actuators for the rear headrests which it turns out are not longer supplied by Mercedes. I picked up the last of the stock! If you are toying with a w211 AMG then I’d definitely suggest the E55 over the E63. Reliability was much better with the E55.

So the routing now goes: headers (connected to engine block), downpipes into catalyc converters (each side), then to silencer/muffler/resonator (more or less under each of the front seats), then crosses over to opposite side and out the exhaust tips, correct? The only things quieting down your exhaust would then be catalyc converter and silencer/muffler/resonator on each side which past the silencer/muffler/resonator, takes a "turn" to the opposite side (via bypass pipe you installed). Correct?

I wondered the same (Nick Drew's query) - but we all have to learn and whether Sue did or not, she'll get it right soon enough :). A brilliant set of vlogs again - thank you.

Hi, I think your vlogs have changed me from being a Sealine F43 watcher/fan - to a T46 watcher/buyer. I realise boat prices have rocketed these past two years - even used prices - but have now started to look at what is available on the used T46 market of boats circa 2000. I have a lot to learn and a shortish time to do so - now aged 76 - but having been a boat user/tester/writer for the last twenty years of the last century (Waterski International and Sportsboat magazine) I think I'll manage to adapt from single outboards to dual sterndrives. I've obviously subscribed and hope to follow more of your escapades - the Cornish cave vlog had caught my attention some time before catching up with the T46, so I'll be looking for more. Any drawbacks you have discovered regarding the size of the T46? It's not that much bigger than the F43 on paper - but may be a huge difference on the water. All the best .... and thank you.

Great to hear it David. There were 33 of them made and ours is hull no. 30. The head room in the T46 vs F43 is what made the difference for me as well as the aft cabin feeling like a “proper” room rather than a cabin in the F43. We had another T46 owner on board in guernsey last night and his previous boat was a 390 which is essentially the same as the F43 and his take was that the T46 was a much better boat all round. Of course this is all subjective but the best thing you can do is have a look at both models in quick succession to make sure you are happy with the choice. If in Plymouth and I’m around then I’d be happy to show you ours although she isn’t for sale at the moment.

Jim, I own the same boat as you. Can I ask you what kind of davit you have installed on yours? It's seems to be perfect for the F36. Thanks!

crikkky, Hi. they are whittal 150kg davits. They were originally designed for the F36 and there is a mounting base for them to be fitted. I had custom made stainless backing plates made for them so that the Mx weight could be achieved. The tender we use is a 3.1m zodiac rib with a centre console and a 20hp Yamaha 4 stroke. Hope that helps.
