I ended up doing a impromptu 4 hour walk from Cockley Beck to The Tarn Hows the week before last, due to my bike chain breaking halfway through a 20 mile cycle ride from Coniston to Seathwaite. Despite having another hour of walking to go and over an hour of driving after that to get home, I couldn't resist stopping for a few minutes when I got as far as Langdale to take a few pictures of the night sky. It's easy to forget just how many stars are visible when there's no light pollution.

We were blown away by the beauty of the area and, of course, all those stars at night! Your 4 hour walk looks like a nice route (thanks to google), we would definitely like to head back and see some more. Did you manage to take pictures of the stars?
