They better get a major signing on the offensive line. Last year’s offense line was not good. There is a very real possibility that 2025 could be slim pickings

Been saying this for years. NOTHING wrong with using analytics as a part of the coaching toolkit. And of course a man like Lane Kiffin has forgotten more about football than I'll never know. However, that doesn't change the fact that analytics is subject to some very compelling criticisms. IMO, the most important is that analytics don't take into consideration specific issues related to the opponent. Going for it on 4th and 4 against Middle TN State is an entirely different prospect than doing the same against Bama or Texas. And what about momentum, crowd involvement, and how well your defense is performing? Analytics also don't allow for learning from past mistakes. I really like Lane, and I'm thrilled he's the Ole Miss head coach, but this specific aspect of his coaching and game management really concerns me - as it does many Ole Miss fans.

The problem is your coach. Same thing is true at Miami and Florida. It isn't about analytics. People were saying the same thing about Ryan Day before he broke through, the same about Kirby Smart before 2021. At one point it's not the talent. Can Lane Kiffin finally win something in his career? James Franklin has at least won a conference title and made the playoffs. Same for Sarkasian and Lincoln Riley. Mario Christobal and Billy Napier aren't ever going to win anything. Is Lane Kiffin? If not then what's going to be the excuse next year? First year QB, too much turnover?
@uttermanboКүн бұрын
Doesn't seem like a B1G homer list. Seems like your biggest issue is the omission of Ole Miss. Problem with your brand problem is that Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State and Alabama are and have been better than Ole Miss. As a Florida fan I find it funny that you say those guys are anti SEC but have Tennessee, Auburn, Texas, Florida and South Carolina in the top ten. That's not SEC hate my friend. You can't cry about the lack of respect when you get blown out by Kentucky and lose to a Florida team with nothing as you said. You haven't earned anything except some transfer portal success.

Still scratching my head on why we were giving a 3rd string transfer WR all those snaps at RB when the season was on the line. If we had such an elite roster, why weren't we more deep at RB....forgetting Bentley's unexplained absence.

@@jameskeyes9112 exactly! It really pissed me off that Jaxon Dart had to apologize for Florida loss. I know true leaders don’t throw others under the bus. But that kid dropped absolute DIMES for 58 minutes and receivers couldn’t catch a cold. He had a horrible last 2 minutes, but only because he was put in a situation he should have never been in. Got WR’s playing RB. Got 200lb Jordan Watkins trying to block a SEC defense end on 4 & 1. Meanwhile we running HB stretch plays with a 330 lb defense lineman. I was at the Georgia game and I really thought we were turning over a new leaf. No trick plays! Ball control! No jet sweeps! No Hugh Freeze quick outs to WRs. We played a game between the numbers for first time in years and put bta on them. But lasted 1 week.

100%! I've been repeating this over and over from the beginning and getting a lot of Lane worshipers pushing back. It doesn't matter one iota what recruiting rank, what transfer portal rank, what pre-season rank and how prolific you are on social media if you throw away games to KENTUCKY at HOME, and then lose two more games you absolutely shouldn't have, and miss the playoffs. Rebel Nation has lived in a world of mediocrity for so many decades that they've become satisfied with not sucking. Then they get mad at those of us who don't believe that's good enough anymore, especially with what we're paying coaches and players. It's particularly galling when people who haven't donated a single cent to the Grove Collective talk down to those of us who do. By the way, I was formerly "TampaZeke" but had some issues with a crazy person that necessitated a name change to avoid future issues with stalkers.

I would like to add that we win in Florida if Juice Wells didn’t drop 4-5 . Prietkorn dropped crucial 3rd down. Jordan Watkins dropped 2 and 1 a touchdown. That’s not coaching or analytics. Analytics ignore game and competition dynamics. Going for it on 4th an 4 against Middle TN State is an entirely different matter than going for it against Florida in the Swamp. Also, analytics preclude learning from experience. It dictates doing the same thing over and over regardless of how it turned out in the past. Lane Kiffin cannot win the big ones - the REALLY big ones - because his competition will always outsmart his charts.

Last week 8 wins seemed like a shoe-in, with many predicting that milestone soon and then some. Now I'm really not sure we get there. It's strange and disheartening how hot and cold this Rebel squad is. After the Bama game many believed our defense was "elite" and a couple players were becoming offensive forces. The last 3 games have sort of squashed that notion.
