Useful.....but didn't mention the 12-15mm coiled cable down the side of my 2014 battery which could not be removed & made it a pig to get the clamp back down! Had to tie the cable to pull it out enough to let me get enough room for the bolt! Cheers

Thank you for this video, but for a 2015.5 T6 "R Design" is the engine bay laid out differently? I would have sworn the manual suggested the battery was on the passenger side under a panel but I could never find it. Another search or query revealed the battery was actually behind a panel near the right rear tire? Or is that a supplemental battery? A garage was flustered by this, so it was not changed and now it has died if you could please help? And would you know the correct battery spec? Subscribed!
@EverydayWorkshop14 күн бұрын
Hi Carlton, I’m not sure if the your vehicle is a different design to the one in the video. Are you sure it isn’t under the plastic scuttle panel in the engine bay. I take it the garage couldn’t find it either, which is a bit strange. If your car has stop start it should have another battery. If you would like to email a photo of your engine bay I may be able to help. Just let me know. 🙂👍

@OnlyTheShadowKnowsAll 0 seconds ago I had my windshield replaced and over time I was getting water in the footwells which I was told plugged roof drain hoses. In time the amount of water in the footwells was significant at times - 2" deep. I finally pulled the carpet and used a heater to dry everything out. I also suspected the windshield and once I was driving in light rain and the water was hitting me in the face coming in around the windshield. I then found an local to replace the windshied and when he came he had the wrong windshield as I have the adaptive cruise, rain sensing wipers and front camera. He checked and said his cost for the windshield was $950 and said I should do some shopping, I called my dealer and they said $583 but later in the day I went on line and found I could buy the windshild online from that same dealer for $312 if I pick it up at the dealer. I talked to the parts guy and he confirmed it was a valid deal. I ordered and had it replace for $200 labor. The installer said the previous installer did not prime the glass and that is why it leaked. Problem resolved. I had tried to seal it with tubes of sealant but the lack or priming prevented a good fix. Replacing the windshield was the only solution that really worked.u

Volvo have certainly cost people a lot of money not ensuring this issue didn’t occur in the first place. I’m glad you have it sorted. This video only shows an interim fix, if your screen is really bad it may not make a difference. Although water will always take the easiest course and if the drains are blocked you will get 100% of the rain water inside the car, as opposed to maybe only 10% or even less when they are clear. Thanks for watching the video. 🙂👍

@PaulMcCann-u7kАй бұрын
Nice one! Appreciate your emphasising on removing the negative connection first and connecting it last - reason being that any accidental connecting with car chassis while removing or attaching the positive terminal will not cause any danger as the battery is out of circuit. I learnt the stupid way 1981 - thankfully no damage to my eyes. Am fitting new battery to XC60 for a friend tomorrow - your video a big help - if it ain’t I’ll let you know. Thanks
@EverydayWorkshopАй бұрын
Hi Paul, thank you I’m really pleased you have found the video helpful. You are correct it’s a really big issue, whatever tool you are using it won’t matter if you contact the body in any way. For anybody else reading this if you connect the positive terminal last and you contact the bodywork ie earthing the positive it will create a spark. And if the battery is producing some gas (hydrogen H2 and oxygen O2) it’s a very explosive mixture and the reason it is extremely important to connect battery terminals in the correct order. 🙂👍

Is the sleeve meant to be all the way forward towards the uj before gluing or all the way back towards the aluminium casting?
@EverydayWorkshopАй бұрын
Hi, it’s a while since I did this, had rewatch the video to remind myself 🙂. If you mean the the ring we are glueing to the column the answer is no it needs to be held fully upwards towards the steering wheel once you’ve glued it and until it sets. So that it’s separated from the steering angle switch. Once set it will only interact with the switch when the steering is turned. Hope this helps and you get it sorted. 🙂👍

I tested my antifreeze before the car cooled down. Hope it doenst explode
@EverydayWorkshopАй бұрын
Hi Sarah, well if you’ve already tested it you would have found out by now. So if nothing happened it was just cool enough. 🙂 Seriously though cooling systems are sealed and become pressurised when hot, this is to raise the boiling point of water so that the engine can run hotter which they prefer. What happens if you remove the pressure cap at full temperature is that you lower the pressure instantly, which in turn lowers the coolant boiling point to normal atmospheric pressure. This causes it to instantly boil and expand the only way it can through the pressure cap opening. This can be like an explosion and is obviously very dangerous. Not at all good for you or the engine. So I would strongly recommend cooling systems are allowed to cool sufficiently first before any type of work is carried out. Hope this helps. 🙂👍

@ It was only on Monday, did check frequently and eventually got four green tick circles but before that, the whirlpool of updating was occurring for ages. It was a false pressure alarm but didn’t know if it occurred because I ran it in AWD accidentally on a 100 mile motorway run in pilot assist with just two interventions (one steering correction and one brake override) so potentially with lots of automatic steering corrections and thus temperature build up against the road camber.

For the double flare, put your tubing in the fixture without tightening it. The button (collet) you will be using has a shoulder on it. The length of the major diameter step is the amount of protrusion for your tubing. Just place the button flat side down onto the fixture beside the tubing to set your protrusion length. Then tighten the fixture, flip the button over and insert it into the tubing. And carry on. - from Snap-On directions.
