0:05 - 0:13, can anyone who knows about this tell me. What is this called, used for, and when developing super 8 at a film lab, will it have it in a scan of the film.

Really sucks seeing how you guys don’t know how to market a film camera, it’s almost a decade and still can’t figure out how to sell it. Embarrassing

Where is the new Ektachrome film, Kodak?
@michaelpetersenfilm6 жыл бұрын
An ugly $1000+ Super 8 camera with unnesessary LCD and Sound recording will not bring Super 8 back to curious young people. A much simpler, smaller and cheaper but well-built consumer model like the very first Kodak M2 instamatic cameras in 1965 would be a real must-have! With good metering and a fix-option and manual ISO setting and a simple but good normal lens and/or c-mount. Or fixfocus plus wide/tele lens attachment. And 2 built-in filter reels with all the must-have filters: ND & the two usual conversion filters for tungsten film in artificial light and daylight film in tungsten environments.

Please Kodak , don't put rem Jet layer on the new Ectachrome S 8mm film , so we , who live in the rest of the world can process it as well.
@grayfilms54517 жыл бұрын
take your time kodak. No rush. After all, manufacturing a cutting-edge hi tech piece of machinery like a super 8 camera would take even NASA decades of R&D work

@Kodak Super8 what film stock is this shot on?
@nudeboulantlescalier7 жыл бұрын
I hope the camera will be affordable the way it was initially planned (old articles mention a price range between 400$ and 750$). Otherwise, considering the price of film stock + processing, I can't see myself buying this over, say, a blackmagic pocket. :(

These videos really don't do Super 8 justice, the picture stability is good and the lens looks ok, but the colors are terrible. In the right hands, Super 8 is way better than this.

That's probably why Ektachrome is coming back. If Kodak had proper thinking they'd bring back Kodachrome. It's insane that they stopped making it.

Hopefully the new Super 8 camera won't be $1,000. Hopefully it's still in the works... :(
@PhoenixWright1017 жыл бұрын
I agree. I realise this camera is of niche interest, but they have to be sensible when it comes to pricing. Only very well-off enthusiasts or professionals will invest £1000 in a Super 8 camera. At that price it will never get into the hands of a new generation of filmmakers, which is seemingly half the reason for developing it in the first place.
@tim49627 жыл бұрын
Your right, it won't be $1,000 it will most likely be $2,000 to $2500.00 when the first models come out. I have my own concerns like, will they come out with a projector to play the film? Also my experience is with regular 8 film and using the old projectors. I mean non of this stuff is anything to brag about. I really think it is going to be a big loss unless they come up with crisp sharp images, perhaps 16mm would be better. But like I said, with out a new projector that can project the image in a way that is breathtaking it will become disappointing. As a consumer I want to be able to project the movie image larger than 80" on the wall for my entertainment using a powerful projector. But with my experience in the past, I know it is not possible using small film like regular 8 and super 8. Will they prove me wrong. This example movie, not bad. But using those old projectors put out a very small image on a screen. This is 2017 I want better, bigger and brighter. Will they listen? I also desire to be able to take one shot at a time to make cartoons or make things disappear as you create the shot. Yes I remember, what a joy it was. I expect a lot and wonder if they will deliver. No projector would be a big mistake. Otherwise, why have the film? Just my thoughts, because I care.

The real business is the film and development, scanning work flow. If Kodak had that ready there could be a demand regardless of the camera. There's a lot of s8 cameras out there. Anyhow lost interest in this camera. I hope they release the film service at some point.
@bradleyhayman26827 жыл бұрын
Make a 16mm camera that comes with a changing bag and design it so it's easy to load. Super 8 is kinda fun but 16 is so superior in quality. Skateboarders aren't gonna spend $2000
@Brookspirit7 жыл бұрын
Changing bag? Just use 100ft daylight spools. I've had a Bolex H16 for over 20 years, it's very easy to load and unload, just do it in the shade. There are loads of videos on here that demonstrate how to load one.
@bradleyhayman26827 жыл бұрын
filo4590 thanks for the tip. Do you ever get any fogging? I'm still practicing loading my eclair with old stock but I just ordered a 400ft roll. Apparently those are cores rather than daylight reels (?). Kinda nervous tbh :)
@Brookspirit7 жыл бұрын
I've never had a problem with daylight spools, just don't load them in bright sunlight or you may get a light leak, that will show itself as an orange color along the edge of the frame after processing. Maybe you could try a 100ft daylight spool first if you are nervous about loading? You will need a changing bag with 400ft rolls, it's a good idea to practice with those. there are plenty of videos demonstrating loading and unloading, you can also download pdf instruction manuals. Be brave, good luck.
@JJF_FILMS7 жыл бұрын
Bradley Hayman agreed. A super 16 camera would be awesome.
@stitchvids7 жыл бұрын
good idea-- building the super 16 gate into a new camera probably won't cost much and they could sell the whole camera for less than the cost of a conversion.
@csb655367 жыл бұрын
It took me awhile, but I finely figure it out. Kodak will not actually produce a consumer model Super 8, they will just keep making videos and posting them on KZbin. It's going on two years since they announced it, but still no camera. I have already purchased an older Super 8 and had it rebuilt.
@ItsTimePictures7 жыл бұрын
Quite a yellow tint going on in places. I really wish Kodak would work with some pro shooters who could come up with a nicely shot short film that had no shakey cam nonsense. I'd kill to do something like that with this camera.
@PhoenixWright1017 жыл бұрын
You're right. If you look at some of the stuff shot by Pro8mm, even without digital grain reduction, the format is capable of so much more than a lot of these sample films would suggest.
@ItsTimePictures7 жыл бұрын
I have shot a great deal of Super8, mostly with an old Nikon R10 and it all looks better than this. So I remain skeptical until some real shooters use this camera. Kodak is really screwing up their marketing of this thing. I tried contacting them about doing something, but they failed to respond.
