So jealous!! Has been horrid here in Houston when it comes to the weather. Rare to have snow and ice here and we have had it for a few days. Stay safe there in my favorite city. Hope to cross paths with you soon. Cheers mate

On the plus side at least it was not raining. I went out for a country roads rideout on Sunday and it was cold, damp and foggy which made for an interesting ride. Bike needs a wash now.

Without mentioning the passenger is probably on there illegally, it seems pretty wild for the bicycle (electric or not) to be on there, but what rule would prohibit it? Judging by the green signs it seems it's still an A-road, not a motorway, so bicycles would be allowed. They should keep to the left and use a helmet but even those aren't requirements. That being said I'm always amazed seeing this kind of filtering on a motorcycle, you clearly have the finesse but don't you ever worry one of the cars will do something stupid and hit you? It feels like a gamble for a low speed accident (so damage not death) car after car.

Cyclists are given a free pass on practically every kind of traffic violation. Jumping red lights, not stopping for pedestrians at crossings, riding on the pavement. Then you would require the rare sight of a Corporate Police Office in the wild to then proceed to enforce the law.......... Merry Christmas Jo Biker ride safe.

When I was growing up in the 1970s I got stopped a couple of times by the police and told off for riding on the pavement (I knew it was wrong but that was kind of the attraction) I don't know when or why it has changed.

Three thing I should like to point out 1.Van was speeding - pure speculation. 2.The van was their side of the road when they passed the motorcycle. 3.That was not a blind bend. For the speed limit a driver or motorcycle travelling at an appropriate speed would be able to stop within the distance they can see ahead.It seems to me that the van and motorcycle were not travelling at a wrekless speed,although difficult to assess accurately!

You were in the wrong lane. Yes I know its in Great Britain.
@COM70

You were 100% legally right and the van was 100% legally wrong. However, that would not help if he killed or seriously injured you. On the advanced course (please somebody qualified weigh in), they would teach you to be further left for a right hand bend, extend your view, give you more time to react, more room to escape and if necessary more time to slow and ditch left onto the margin. I’m sure the van would then have driven away from the scene leaving you in the ditch suffering no consequences. But you would be alive.

Most most cyclists are responsible speaking is never taking responsibility for their terrible writing skills yet they’re entitled and complain that everyone else is at fault you are clearly in the wrong you were able to move away from this idiot van driver, but he chose to beat him. Your time is limited on the road. If you can change the way, you are best wishes for this motorbike cyclist driver.❤

You are in the correct lane, the van is in the wrong lane. Highway code says not to use horn in rage. If you used your horn to warn the van then thats okay. I would have done the same as you, how were you to know that the van was going to move over to the correct lane, he may have fallen asleep or been distracted ted by his phone etc.

M8 thats a nice bit of riding. You are observant and safe, vans is in the wrong the driver was probably distracted or just not concentrating. As for the internet pond life, well they can just swim to the bottom of the pond and stay there. Weird how people get a kick from making others feel bad. Stay safe 👌

Perhaps the van driver had to take avoiding action himself from an animal in the road or debris and that’s why he ended up where he did. You maybe could’ve had a tighter position to the n/side in anticipation of an oncomer, but you had lots of time to react. You could even sound your horn, so it really wasn’t too bad. FYI - I was until last month a Police Motorcycle Instructor with over 30 yrs experience so it’s something I’ve seen regularly. Just as well you weren’t ripping the speed limit up !
