Thank you Cristin for this excellent in-depth tutorial on layers and he different types of settings layers use. This was very helpful for me. I knew what layers and merging of layers were as I have used Photoshop many years back, but I was not at all familiar with the specific settings such as Alpha Lock, Clipping, etc.

Thanks for asking! It’s really going to depend on your preferred style of art and how much control you want over the blending. Personally, I prefer using the smudge tool with a texture brush and set it to a lower opacity.

I’m pretty new to procreate and I drew some amazing lineart and I want to free draw under it with the lines still being completely intact. No matter if I select a lower layer and try to draw, it always goes above my lineart as if there is a layer above it, not below. Is there anybody who can help me? (BTW I’m used to using Adobe Photoshop)
@CristinAF6 ай бұрын
@@SanguineSketches thanks for your question! If you’re using Photoshop I can’t be of much help because I never learned that program. However, in procreate, that could be happening if you have a blend mode turned on. To check this, in the layer there should be an N next to the check box. ☑️ This means the blend mode is set to Normal. If it’s set to another letter such as M for Multiply, you can tap it and set it back to N

2 years later, this video has helped me tremendously! Thanks! It can be tricky to change the threshold when selecting a line. The first time I select a line, hold, move the threshold left or right, it works great. But if I need to keep moving the threshold, it's tricky to start again on the line. If I miss the line something else gets filled. So I end up trying again. However after practice, it gets easier. Thanks so much!
