Thanks for reaching out to us! We typically recommend at least 1/4" of biting material. If the cabinet is only 1/8" thick, then framing would likely need to be added. This bracket ships with fasteners included. Here is what we send. (3) 1/4" x 2" flat phillips tapping screw AND (3)1/4" x 2" flat phillips wood screw - zinc.

Yes! Before placing your counter, it's important to add a binding agent between the bracket and the counter. Our most common recommendation is to use Silicone. *in this video it was called caulk, but silicone was used.

Thanks for your quick reply. I should have been more specific with my question. What I meant was does silicone have enough adhesive strength to hold a countertop in place? Should something stronger be used?

The Lincoln Top Plate is intended to be installed in the top plate without the need to route out the supporting structure. The plate can be used in the same format as a standard hidden bracket or butted up one next to the other along the length of the structure to fill in any gap between the bottom of the counter and the support structure. The Freedom can be installed within the cabinet as shown in the video. You are correct that this would likely interfere with a drawer if one were present. In that case the furring and bracket can be installed on the exterior of the cabinet and covered over with fascia.

Many of our customers will drill a hole in their mantel beam, apply silicone onto the rod, and slide their mantel beam onto the rods. It's also a good practice to put some additional weight on top of the mantel to help the silicone to glue the mantel and rod together for a perfect fit. Other buyers tend to simply drill a hole and slide the mantel on, ultimately committing to the weight of the mantel to maintain it's positioning. Everyone does it a bit different. I believe it goes without saying that you don't install a floating bench that support 500 lbs into drywall. The support brackets have six holes for mounting sturdy stainless bolts in to preplanned structural supports. 2x6 or 2x8's secured to the 2x4 studs.
