Does the builder give you the option to buy some items yourself and then provide to them to instal? For example, the kitchen sink faucet at lowes for 130-200 vs. their 500+ price. That way your saving some money.

Very good video with honesty. Question about flooring: does luxury vinyl floor look and feel exactly the same as engineered wood? I did some research on KZbin, some ppl rave for the LVF, some said it engineer wood is much better.

Interesting points. We are building in Florida a 2,000 sq ft plan where living, dining and kitchen are essentially in one room. I intend to set up a formal dining area with my mom's mahogany table and china cabinet. I love to cook and entertain, so the rooms will see action every day. However, unlike our condo where we currently live in San Diego, I don't want a TV in the living room. I would like to put the TV in a bedroom. Definitely one bedroom will be a dedicated office, even though we are retired.

Agree on points 1-4. All my pets are outdoors at present and they won't be indoor pets later, so I don't think 5 is necessary for my situation. It's very tough finding floor plans that don't waste space. I put together my own floor plan that I love, but I don't think I'll have the resources to do full custom, so I just use it as a reference when I'm looking at the pre-done floor plans offered by on-your-lot builders. I have to decide on a floor plan in the next couple of months and it looks like I'll have some back and forth with the builder to learn what modifications they allow to the floor plans that are also not going to price us out of our budget.

I'm looking forward to seeing the powder room/terrarium.

I had a interior designer tell me my microwave over the stove, is not a luxury kitchen. Yes it's very functional, however my microwave handles have melted from the heat if my stove twice! I think its a personal preference. I prefer the look of a hood over my stove. I just think it's gives a much grander look to the kitchen. I also like my microwave either attached to another cabinet not above my stove, or in a built in microwave drawer.

I think the window is attractive and the natural light is great! But..., I believe the window would be full of grease, and Im not sure if the window would support alot of heat coming from the stove, electric or gas. JMO
