Amazing insights! As someone who was working in operations but is now going into a process engineering role, it’s really cool to learn the slight difference and focus areas between ops and engineering! Well done on the amazing content!!

He seems to be describing a support role. I was under impressions with chemical engineering degree, I could start as operation supervisor at an oil/gas refinery and work my way up to Site Manager of the refinery…or are those roles reserved more for business majors?

My presidential endorsers brother in law is a process engineer. I have obsessive compulsive disorder which means im illogical. Thats why peter tells me to leave the school and suggests the company fire me. Peter thinks i am too stupid to understand hes making fun of me. Peter thinks he is smarter than i am. Peter teaches God in his reaction engineering class. Peter believes God punishes people who do wrong algebra. Peters obesity is in conflict with the teaching of christianity that gluttony is a sin. This shows that peter is a hypocritical christian. Peter believes the school is persecuting him for the word of God and that God requires him to fail certain students.

Oh man, I think remote work is going to become more and more common and many of the hurdles you mentioned will be greatly diminished. Many of the hurdles are from people perceiving remote work as unable to do _____ and I think people will find you can do much more than a lot of older/old-school-thinking people think at the moment. I'm glad you didn't talk about the bullshit reason I hear all the time, that "remote employees are just less efficient and get less done." Fuck that. I'm about x2 more effective working remotely on the days when I work from home at my current EPC Process Engineer job. I could easily do my job fully remote and travel very occasionally (1 week/year) to client sites, and I know that especially because 1/3 of the team I am on is fully remote already. Yeah......I can't wait for the culture to shift and companies to realize remote work is awesome for them to save money and for the employees.

Hi, Eggs. I'm a chemical engineering student at Buenos Aires University, and I'd like to know if you accept to be interviewed. It is for a college homework I was assigned that consists in a short survey about being a chemical engineer. Tell me if you're interested and I'll talk to you through the mail addressed in your channel! Thanks!

Hi! Im a grade 12 student who applied for chemistry programs but Im now wondering if I should have chosen chem eng. I love chemistry but dislike all other subjects. So my question is: Is there enough chemical engineering for it to be worth it?

This is hindsight for me, but I would have applied for a lab tech(contractor) position right after graduating, gotten foot in the door and then either tried to become a supervisor within this plant on the floor, stayed in the lab, or applied for engineering roles. You probably have a chance of going to supervisor doing a good job and then launching to an engineer role. The point being you'll probably need to take a low paying lab tech role, to then have a chance at an okay salary as a supervisor gain experience and then launch to engineering. At all points you can and should be applying for roles that you want, but you are doing this to gain experience while you are chasing your real dream jobs...

I have been remote for 15 years -- working as a Product Manager. I agree need to have the baseline experience first (10 years in factory) and I had that before transition to remote due to job change, but needed the experience to get PM job.

When I first started watching your videos, it was about a year ago. I was new to a marketing job helping scientists and engineers use statistics to improve R&D and production. The learning curve to actually knowing what an engineer does in their day-to-day work and what are the realities of their life, career, and wants was steep. You helped me learn what engineers care about and how they see themselves and their roles so that I better understood my customers. I’m so excited you’re back and ready to learn more!

Really good video eggs! I was waiting for you to mention the point at 03:00 because I totally agree; maybe at the starting point of a grad’s career, doing more in person work would be beneficial for them as it will give networking and promotion opportunities 😅 10/10

Hi, Chemical Engineer. A question: Do multi-vitamins and cosmetics sold in those dollar stores carry the same grade of quality as the same ones sold in major supermarkets? The packagings and manufacturer addresses printed at the back are exactly the same. And made in USA according to the manufacturing address.

I've been planning on going into chemical engineering but was never really sure if I'd actually enjoy what they do because I was never really sure _what_ they did... thanks to this video, I have a much better idea of what chemical engineering looks like and whether or not I'd like it.

Eggs? What kind of name is that? Chemical Engineering is 90% heat and material balances, fluid mechanics, equipment and instrument sizing. You’ll need to be good at thinking and conceptualising systems. Chemistry? You won’t do a lot of that. In fact, apart from basic stoichiometry and some reaction kinetics you hardly do any chemistry.

I graduated with a master degree in Analytical chemistry at the age of 23. During my internship I discovered the world of polymer chemistry as well as surface chemistry. I moved to France in order to pursue another master degree in polymer chemistry. My first year as a foreign student was very tough, I found myself homeless by the end of the first semester. My situation was chaotic, I managed against all odds to graduate with honors and ended up 6th out of 100 students. I had to work full time while studying, I had to eat white pasta for months in order to save some money and get a roof over my head. When I finally graduated, I did not land a job nor a Ph.D position. I got an admission for another master degree in chemistry and physics, I understood the importance of the choice of the internship and the role of networking. At the end, I graduated with once again nothing in perspective. I kept applying for both Thesis and Jobs for which I had all the required competences. I thought that my resume was the problem; therefore; I sought the help of professionals and I read books about the subject and applied them. After two years, I had only one job interview. The only job opportunities that I had were in teaching middle school students on the outskirts of the city. Most of my old classmates found themselves in the same situation, even those who were able to get a Ph.D. The majority are now working either as teachers or switched to the IT industry. At 30 years old, I have just stopped working as a barman and I am unemployed, I am currently contemplating a career as a data scientist. I waisted 10 years of my life. I don't advice anybody to follow this path.
