Thank you for this! I recently was given an old ashiko that somebody tried to repair incorrectly. It needs a head and strings. Although slightly different from the drum I have, this will greatly help me in repairing. God bless.

How long do we scrub for between clenched fists. I normal Pull the skin apart between scrubbing. I noticed that my drum face, some of it become transparent. Even though I keep it wet when I am sewing the drum. Please help.
@mosesayankunle4 ай бұрын
I will advise that you scrub all areas evenly. As you pull the skin apart, observe if it has the same flush all round.

Great video , Why do they put like a creamy substance inside the talking drum.. And what does it do?
@mosesayankunle5 ай бұрын
@maximo5737 Thank you. The creamy substance is glue and it is meant to create a stronger bond at the drumhead folds. Better bond could contribute to longer lifespan of the drumhead.

Yes... Thank you for your response. I didn't mean for the awo part.. I meant inside inside the drum wood.. all through the middle. I have always wonder what it is

I have a question.. when you puncher the drum with needle,do you Pierce the eleke or you go around the skin? Thank you
@mosesayankunle5 ай бұрын
The ìlẹ̀kẹ̀ isn’t pierced because this might break the needle and the ọgán would not pass through without difficulty. The first and second layer of the hide (awọ) is pierced slightly off the ìlẹ̀kẹ̀ (hidden between both layers) for smooth process.
@maximo57374 ай бұрын
@@mosesayankunle awesome.. O make sense. Esà.. so the ileke is slightly pinched when passing through needle between the first and second layer of the awo. Is that correct?
