Reading through the posts in the Facebook groups for the gen 3 Ecodiesel, there are individuals that have tested various oils, with oil analysis done, and found the Amsoil European 5w40 oil to be the best for this particular engine. But not the FS. The MS holds up better.

Pay for what you need, cheap oil and add a Lucas package or expensive oil .like Amsoil. Change regularly

Do you have oil analysis to prove amsoil has better wear protection? I run Pennzoil Platinum and has a 2 ppm wear rate per 1000 miles.

You stock what you believe to be the best. Justify it if challenged and be prepared to order whatever a customer may demand

Why not let the shop where your vehicle is serviced make this decision? I think in the prospect of a returning customer is far better than one that avoids your shop because you use bad oil.

You do not sound sincere. You can pick up an SAE manual / PDF and read it. The military has something similar. You can run your own tests on the heat flow question - not even hard.

Ran Amsoil 25k oil in the following vehicles back in the 2000s: two Honda Odyssey's and a Honda Accord. I would use the best filter they had as well. I'd usually go to the 20k mile interval and then change it. One of the cars, don't remember which, Amsoil only offered a 12.5k filter so I had to do a filter swap. Ran the crap out of all of them as I had a long daily commute and swimmers, meaning lots of away swim meets! Never had an issue with any of them and they were all 200k+ mileage when I got rid of them. One of the Odyssey's blew the tranny (per usual) but I wasn't running Amsoil in it. Probably should have but these tranny's were weak and known to be as well. Now I am running Costco's full synthetic oil in all my vehicles. 2 camry's 2004 and 2005, a 2010 Lexus GX460 and 21 F150. I change at 5k now just to keep it all fresh and still run premium filters. Remember - Filtration is just as important!! I'll get an OEM, Mobil 1 or Fram Ultra (yes they are way better than they used to be if you get the premium line) filters.

In case you guys didn't know, ALL of the additives are made essentially by two or three companies. Afton and a Mobil/Shell (Pennzoil) partnership, as well as Chevron. Base oils are similar. You should be selling whatever the customer wants. It also isn't a matter of brand, but formula. For example, Mobil1 standard 5w30 is NOT EVEN CLOSE to Mobil1 European 0W40. Amsoil is great. Problem is it costs 300% more. I don't want any oil in my crank case for 20k miles. Bypass filter or not. Sorry!

For a little more anecdotal evidence, I started racing a truck with an original stock engine at around 260,000 miles. Had always ran Castrol GTX 10w30 since buying it. But opted to run Mobil 1 when I started racing. In the afternoon heat of Texas summers the viscosity would drop and I’d lose a lot of oil pressure on the track. Switched to Amsoil, and have never had an issue. Still with 10w30

Again nice video for all of us with a 06 Chevy 4.8 have an alternator that runs too slow you're not helping anybody if you don't give the dimensions or where to get it or who makes it. What diameter is it is it a 43 mm or 42 mm of 46 because I believe the stock one is 50 something or 60 millimeter

dude ray if i had a mechanic like you with the same ethics and practices, I would go to you for my smallest issues with my car and you can have all my money. idc. because I know in the end of the day you do honest work that helps everyone out in the end. there are very few like you. I went to a shop my dad has gone to for years. i trusted them because my father did. come to find out they were over charging me and my father. they wanted 300 dollars to flush my transmission and put the most generic atf in it (BG brand atf ) and the second drive on the free way the transmission slips the worse it ever has. the day that happened I ordered amsoil atf, I used their engine oil and holy cow the engine acts completely different, like it just got a bast of lubrant in every bearing and part of the rotating assebely was fully lubbed. its a crazy. amsoil atf is only $170 for 12 quarts. so your telling me that it cost this mechanic $130 to remove the transmission oil lines attach it to the machine and have the machine do all the work for you?

The chemical makeup of chlorinated vs non-chlorinated brake cleaner is 100% different. There is no tetrachloroethylene in the drum of cleaner in your workshop, as it is marked non-chlorinated. The risks in the one you show are dramatically different and lower. Here's a fun vid which may help explain: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6TJXnyGlLZljdE
