i would be wanting a new car because there were these little events called hurricanes that happened last september and that car sat in a saltwater flooded lot. not customers fault. the dealer should eat that car because they didn't take care of a legitimate customer complaint and now it will percolate through litigation and not smell well when it gets done festering.

We've had a week or more of consistent minus or negative 20 - 30 degrees Celsius in the mornings and not much warmer during the day. It seems to be warming up somewhat and it is only -4 right now. With the wind factored in it feels like -11. I have been here for 70 years. It used to be fun when we were children, but it is getting to be something most people my age fly away from in the winter. Stay warm, Ray and the Wife Unit and all your kids too.

OMIGERD! Better get mild and bread! Cracks me up Ray. My Sis-in-Law in J'ville sent a pic of her bundled up in blankets watching TV, it was 50F in her house. I was outside in T-shirt today. It was about 35F. Was colder a couple nights ago, 9 F overnight. I don't know what y'all would do if it got that cold in FL !

It's hard to complain when one's temps are in the 40s here in CA, and others, like Ray, are really cold. I'm so glad that my days of having to work in the elements - like cold and hot days - are in my past. But there are many memories of them. Definitely do not want to smack your hands with a wrench or bolt, etc., when they're cold. It hurts so much more! Stay as warm as you can, Ray!

I was thinking, when he made his opening remarks, that rust and corrosion caused by salt exposure takes a while. Normal usage should wear away any rust and corrosion on the rotors too fast for it to pit up. However, once the pitting occurs, it will cause uneven breaking, grooving and/or warp the rotor. I agree with this guy. I think the dealer knows they are responsible, but just don't want to deal with it! I have seen so many businesses try to deny warranties, often in violation of the law. They do this knowing that most people won't challenge them or don't have the resources to challenge them. It should, in my opinion, cost them a significant amount paid directly to the customer, fines and time for fraud. The fraud being in the refusal to honor the warranty, which is a big part of any major purchase. If a warranty is part of the sale value, which it is, and it is refused for a legitimate claim, then they have essentially taken payment for services not rendered. That's my opinion. The consumer should get compensated at that point, for both the repair and mental anguish/frustration plus the time and expense of dealing with it. It has been my experience that some dealers are less reputable than others. Some are downright shady. But, they have contracts with the manufacturers that supply the vehicles they sell. Those contractscrequire certain ethical commitments. My ex in-laws bought an SUV from a local dealer. The transmission went bad 3 times. Not the clutch, the transmission. It was an automatic. The dealership "lost" the paperwork. In my state there exists a lemon law. Under the terms of this law, they were entitled to a replacement vehicle. By "losing" the paperwork, they were trying to avoid the liability. Like this owner, they filed a complaint with national. A representative was sent down, who reviewed the copies of the "lost" paperwork my ex in-laws had. The dealer was chewd out, fined and had to give full credit towards a new SUV. While the circumstances are different, the manufacturers don't want to lose business due to shady dealers gi ing them all bad names. The dealership I previiusly mentioned, also got caught shorting oil changes. They would bill for 4 quarts, but put in 3, bill for five and put in 4. They billed for the amount that should have been put in. This was causing increased wear. The dealership is now under new ownership after being closed and emptied for a couple of years. I bet she gets the brakes fixed under warranty. She should. I also agree that over $2000 for rotors and pads is a bit on the high side. 18:19 6 months makes everything I just said, irelevant and wrong, too. Well, except for the price. That still seems way too high. LOL. Funny how a little detail makes a big difference!

Not only is is cold here in Toronto (and we use Celsius so let conversion confusion reign) we also have snow and instead of salt in our water, we load our roads with it (interesting fact: road salt is mined from under the Great Lakes). You haven't lived until you move from a car with a heated steering wheel to one that doesn't have it.

Still doesn't address the vibration issue when the car is not braking. That could be bearings, tie rod bushings, tire side wall breakdown, or something similar, also exacerbated by a year of lot rot not addressed by the dealer. 2300 miles on a $55,000 car that looks like it spent a year submerged in salt water does not make for a satisfied customer. I would never buy from that dealership again, if only because they appear to be untrustworthy, in particular regarding warranty coverage at purchase. LOL. Not quite true. I would never buy from them in the first place, because Lexus is a rebadged, over priced Toyota.

That’s a 60,000 dollar car, I’d be calling corporate to, a car with only 2,300 miles and 6 months of ownership shouldn’t have these issues, Comes down to poor quality parts, For the price of these cars the parts should be built to withstand the elements

I prefer the heaters with sealed combustion and heat exchangers. Such as Eberspacher heaters. That way all the nasty carbon monoxide can be vented outside. Your shop is well ventilated and has doors so should be just fine though.
