Met Peter Buck & Bill Berry in a Marriott club we were playing in Worcester Mass in 85 (i think) We were done with our set and was talking to them , they asked for another drink and the Bartender told them they were closed adn wouldn't serve them , so we got them a couple of drinks ,,, we chatted for a while and they asked us if we played the next night on a Sunday , we said no and they asked if wanted to come to Providence RI to see them as their guest , We had a great time backstage with them, just some real down to Earth guys , It was the Document tour and Natalie Merchant 's band opened the show ...what a great memory

I still contend that Bill Berry is the most under-rated drummer ever! Being a drummist myself, and I'm like hyper-critical of drummers ( this sentiment arises like a burning fire alarm in my soul- out of that omnipresent metronome inside the marrow of my arythmic aorta-The Antagonist; the percussive beast w/ three heads materializes,whose intentions are to either drag me off beat or to rush me into the forbidden fast track or still to force me into submission, languishing in the sycophantic charms of digital eden where nothing but zeros and ones are in control-that soul-less hell of perfection! Nay! I am HUMAN! I AM CAUSE I AM-IN THE POCKET! Living-breathing-alas procreating, married to the beat and yet stealth, frail, and naked...hunkered down into my groove.

Michael Stipe has ties to Athens. It's a small town where everybody knows everybody else. You can meet him shopping at Publix or Lowes or Walmart. It's not a big deal. Georgia is pretty laid back so his neighbors view him as a local boy made good. He's well respected and I think he's cool.

saw them live in manchester (uk) i mean, i know i liked these BEFORE i went, but at the time and after i was just like, "WOW". they are awesome live, and as said earlier, i think they are better. the only thing worse was "the great beyond" they sand slighlty faster than on the cd, and i didnt think it sounded as good, but it was still awesome!! the accelerate tour was one to see! got the new CD, and it is awesome, great compilation, i'm hooked :D if youve not yet seen them, i urge you to go!!!!!

This is an energetic, electric and direct record, but I love too when they turn deep,experimental and emotional like in the post-bill recordings. Looking forward for the special edition CD, I can't wait !!!

Well I think it's a good song, maybe the best from Accelerate, but not enough to put me over the moon, lats records are plenty of good songs like this (electron blue, the outsiders, saturn return) and are suposed to be bad records :-o ...
