A former Japan Airlines DC-10-40 still flying. Neat treat wherever it goes

I know 12+ years passed, but is there any info about this specific aircraft? I'm pretty sure it was converted into freighter and now flying in fedex fleet.

Sure sounds like GE CF6-50'S to me, which would make Her a DC-10-30. The #2 tunnel doesnt have a bulge like the MD11 does. The bulge style tunnels were on DC-10-40's also and they had Pratt & Whitney JT9D's. The straight lined tunnel was on GE CF6 engines. Which were on DC-10-10 and DC-10-30 with CF6-6D's and CF6-50's
@Red_P516 ай бұрын
N974VV is the tail number. Definitely has the CF6 sounding characteristics but is 100% one of the few -40s still flying. Also has the PW logos all of it.
@lorenjackson89615 ай бұрын
That is a -40....not -30. Omega has both of them. The -40's refuel from outboard under the wings while the -30's refuel with the standard boom like Air Force tankers.
