I miss the 2 lane highways; (would rather take those than the other)...the interstates are necessary, sometimes: still, I love the old roads !!

I never heard the " road trip" until the movie Animal House came out . Every trip by car was called "trip " because only the rich went by plane or train .

Maybe not a shit show but 68 was a rough year. MLK was assassinated, RFK was assassinated. Vietnam War. The Tet offensive in the Vietnam war. Riots in DC, Chicago, Baltimore and other cities. We are nostalgic. I was young then and I loved the time of my youth, but 68 was a rough year in US history.

In 1968, there were 1/3 as many people on this planet. 3 billion than, 9 billion now. That’s why there is no interstate traffic.

Places were their own deal at that time. Since, it's become like boiled rice - all the same. Nature matters, she's the great difference. Look after your local landscape.

This was fantastic, and I appreciate you posting it, but man I would pay good money for a similar film driving on the old highways through all the tiny towns which were even then starting to dry up.

They traveled old highway 41 in TN. Wonder why they didn't use I24? Anyway, it was a lovely trip. Really enjoyed when they were going across Lookout Mtn. Wish they had continued through Jasper, though. They warped from east of Jasper right into Nashville :D

5:34 On Clarksville Pike, just north of Bordeaux. An abandoned Old Hickory Credit Union branch is now located less than 100 yards south of this former building. I remember the build from my childhood. Before it closed down it had been turned into a night club.

Part of me misses the old Nashville, but I'd rather Nashville be what it is today than what cities like Birmingham and Memphis have become. There was a time when both of those cities sat higher in the pecking order than Nashville, and now they're trying to find a way to breathe some life back into themselves.

I remember driving from Chattanooga to Nashville one night because a friend of mine told me that he had never seen the grand old Opry i remember we just drove right up in front of the Ryman and walked right up on the front steps not a single person in sight That was when Nashville was Nashville not Hollywood unfortunately those days are gone forever

Not 1965, at 1:24 a blue 1967 Chevrolet is in the background also shortly after a 1968 Chevrolet passes. In that time period new car models came out in the fall of each year, so filming took place no sooner than the fall of '67. 👍🤠

Is it possible to feel nostalgia for a time you never lived?
@MemoriesofNashvilleTenneessee4 ай бұрын
Yes. I've been doing it since I was a teenager in the 80's. My friends were listening to Van Halen and the Beastie Boys and I was listening To big band and 50's music 😂 Actually I like all kinds of music but something about that time period causes a weird feeling like I was there . Kinda odd 😀

@4:41, I remember Stuckey's, great place to eat and their pecan pies were the best. @6:46, look at the cute brunette, slender, elegantly dress, very pretty and classy. That is my kind of woman but I was just a little kid back then.

A note to the person who loaded this film. I bought a bunch of 8mm films from someone on ebay also about 10 years ago, and an 8mm film projector.
@MemoriesofNashvilleTenneessee4 ай бұрын
@veltonmeade1057 I have a wolverine film scanner - not a projector to transfer the films to digital. You can use a projector and video cam to record the image but not my preferred method.
