Prefer a handheld wind device to show us the wind, than depend on hearsay.

Hello Willy, this is not hearsay as this was filmed in our backyard and that is my daughter filming, and I was there with her. We had accurate weather reports during this winter storm. Sure, helps that NOAA is just down the road! Hapy Trails, Warmlite

My dad gave me his old Warmlite sleeping bag years ago when he could no longer go camping due to his health. My mom bought it as a wedding present for him in 1977, just used it on a camping trip for the Solar Eclipse (2024) this past weekend and it still works perfectly! Great sleeping bag, cannot recommend it more!

Great to see the Warmlite heritage in these tents that have been well proven over time but still compete on innovation and value with the latest competitors!

So like wear rain clothes underneath everything? I would be interested about the sleeping and hygiene aspect of this. What do you need to do if you were doing like a week long trip at -20C with VBL, how would that go?

@bizahz7633: I hope they answer your questions. In my experience, VB is a great tool to stay warmer with less insulation, and less need to dry wet mid-layers, as well as prevent that hygiene funk from reaching past the VBL. At some point the skin must be allowed to dry otherwise it gets susceptible to damage, and any layers worn under the VBL will have to be washed to remove those smelly oils and minerals she referred to. Great video, BTW!

Rain clothes normally are loose-fitting (baggy) to allow air to circulate underneath. A VBL may (or may not) be made of similar material, but it is cut to fit closer to the skin; UNDERNEATH most of your insulation (especially down). Warmlite's "fuzzy stuff" VBL fabric is designed to be more comfortable against the skin. I have not tried it, but it is reasonably priced. Something as simple as an emergency poncho or disposable rain jacket or even a lightweight plastic bag can work, although it takes some time to get accustomed to wearing something like that. If your rain clothes are super lightweight (such as silnylon or silpoly), then they may work as well. Keep in mind that you may also want a waterproof shell OVER your down, in addition to the VBL underneath it. Many people wear a thin base layer underneath the VBL for comfort. The main reason to wear a VBL for extended trips in cold weather is to protect your down from moisture buildup. That is just as important inside your sleeping bag as it is it under a down parka while you're working/hiking/skiing/snowshoeing/whatever.

This is a fantastic proven sleep system that does work! You might’ve mentioned that the air mattress is filled with down also and that is why you do not want to blow it up with your own breath, which has moisture in it.

I put flagging tape on the loop of the side that the pole goes into.
