The frame is made with a durable high-density fiberglass exterior and a low-maintenance extruded aluminum interior. • Is there a manual back up? In short, yes. If we may qualify our ‘yes’ with a bit more detail: Casement units that meet egress requirements (frame size of at least 27” wide and 38” high) have the same manual lock lever that a crank out casement has. After lifting that lever to unlock the unit, there will be a small lever accessible that will allow the sash cylinder to slide along a track and the window can be manually opened. All units could be manually disconnected from the electronics to manually operate them, but only appropriately sized units would meet legal requirements for egress. It also features on-unit sensors keep rain and moisture out. Rest easy knowing windows and skylights will automatically close when moisture is detected. Let us know if you need anything else. Hello Kevin, we recommend that sealants for installation must be Grade NS Class 25 per ASTM C920 and compatible with the building exterior, window or door exterior surface, and flashing/water management materials. For example: OSI Quad Pro-Series or DAP DynaFlex230TM sealant for windows. When applying sealant between the cover and drywall, use a paintable caulk.
