He's been a singer, dancer, songwriter, and producer for over 30 years, and was extremely popular as a soloist especially from 1994-2002 ish. This is because the companies usually keep a very short leash on the groups, so many times an idol will write lyrics but they will end up being rejected by the company. Once a group has established themselves a bit more, sometimes a company will allow some self-written lyrics through because they've already built up a fandom. For TWICE in particular, more and more songs have been written by them in recent years, which are some of my favorites in their discography. I wish JYP had allowed them to do it sooner ngl.
