EErrmm...... How can I put this politely.........Good example of VERY BAD technique...... On the approach to the log you should be compressing the suspension, then pull a wheelie so that the front wheel is just above the log centreline, then when the front suspension compresses fully into the log, spring your body upwards to unweight the bike, then it will float over the log. NEVER EVER let the back wheel SLAM into an obsticle like this, it is completely wrong, and is putting unneccassary shock loads on the bike. I know the 4rt is the strongest trials bike you can buy, but I wouldn't buy this one off you after seeing this video...... I'm really not trying to be funny, I hope you practice my advice, and you will become a better trials rider.

Were you scared at first lifting the front.tire? Or am i just a coward?
@AJKTrialSport2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was, that’s natural, you’re not alone 😉 What helped me a lot was deliberately exaggerating the front wheel lift beyond the point of flipping over, knowing (or rather convincing myself) that nothing really bad could happen (except letting go of the motorcycle and get off yourself without any injury). We are talking about light and robust trials bikes moving at slow walking speed, not high speed street race bikes at full throttle 😉 The idea is to use your finger on the clutch and foot on the brake if you approach the tipping point. Just start easy with a very low front lift (just a few inches, not even a foot high) and hit the rear brake (while using the clutch of course) as soon as the front wheel takes off; a little impulse on the break is enough to bring back immediately the front wheel to the ground. That way you learn that you always have the control, no matter what: when it becomes frightening high: quick engage clutch and brake: problem solved and going on easy again. Only with that kind of self taught confidence (nothing bad can happen cuz I got full control over the bike with my clutch and brake) you are able to get used to the routine, so you can work on your balance and higher wheelies when needed. Once you become fearless life becomes limitless, good luck 😃

My clubmate Florian (which you see in this video) is in his early twenties and before he switched to Montesa in 2020 he rode always GasGas since he was a kid. I've never seen him on a 315r, but I'm sure that he could master any bike. It didn't occur to me that you might ask for someone other than the one in the video since both are named Florian 😉

Brilliant ! In the slow motion you can really see what's happening wrt timing of the clutch, throttle, compression, and body position . Excellent probably one of the most helpful I've watched and I have watched lots! Thanks for sharing.

hi, how much throttle are you giving? (a percent would be nice!)

Not bad. But he is NOT using legs to compress suspensions before front wheel up. His body position is good.

I'm planning a KZbin review of the top trials training channels and was going to include yours. Screen recording for a short duration and giving all credit to your channel to plug your work. I appreciate what you've giving back to the sport and learned so much from consuming your videos. Let me know if you're alright being included in this please. Cheers mate

Another question... Do you use the disengagement of the clutch to place the front wheel on to the obstacle and at the same time prepare for the next with regards to loading the flywheel?
@AJKTrialSport3 жыл бұрын
To get an instant amount of power in order to make a jump, using only the throttle is usually not enough (much too slow), therefore you let the clutch slip while staying on the throttle.
@davekelly71843 жыл бұрын
Question... What is the purpose of the front brake during the run up please? Are you using it in conjunction with the slipping of the clutch to control your approach speed? Or is there something else going on such as aiding the front compression? Very eager to know.
@AJKTrialSport3 жыл бұрын
You got it: aiding the front compression :)

@@AJKTrialSport Technical question for you.. When tackling a reasonably high step, do you slip the clutch for the initial wheelie and then pop the clutch for the second stage? Just trying to understand the relationship with the clutch and throttle during the whole process.
@AJKTrialSport4 жыл бұрын
@@davekelly7184 I use the clutch for the initial wheelie out of habit, even if it's not always necessary. I'm trying to keep the revs up until the finish of the full maneuver, getting the required power only from a second throttle burst is typically not enough. Getting used to it (keeping the revs up) took me a while, but the benefit from doing so is worth it 😉
