We all feel a little sorry for Richard Nixon cause it was like adding insults to injuries. He was not the worst president but he was the one that got caught. But still funny cause he died a year later.

Was reading about Goethe and how in his novel Faust, where the titular character makes a deal with the devil, it's Gretchen, the woman he loves, who saves his soul by the grace of God and the holy virgin. This immediatly reminded me of this Simpsons episode, where it's actually the woman who defeats the devil. Very well played by the authors.

I'm not a hockey fan but i know that it's a tough sport, so i ask: were really so savage the line of the '76 Philadelphia Flyers?
@michelesauro7086
@michelesauro7086 2 ай бұрын
They were known for being extra brutal in an era of hockey where fighting and violence was farrrr more prevalent than today, so much so it was one of, if not, the main selling point for tickets. They weren't even a particularly skilled team either, they just made it to the finals by beating the shit out of every team until submission. For reference they played the USSR national team, which at the time was the BEST team to take ice. They got beaten so badly by the flyers that they wanted to quit mid game and ended up losing.

The Broadstreet Bullies! That was their name. They were integral in helping the Flyers win 2 Stanley Cups in a row, and were an extremely physical and brutal team to play. As others have said, they also had a famous series against the Soviets as well.

If it’s unbreakable under the law, then said contract is invalid, as U.S. law prohibits slavery (except as punishment for a crime) and selling one’s soul is clearly the act of selling oneself into slavery, then the contract is invalid. Of course infernal law may be different.

Benedict Arnold always had British sympathies and his wife was loyal to the crown, his rivals did all in their power to spite him even closing down his business while he was at war and tried getting him court martialed on false charges. Lizzie Borden was mentally unstable and her outbursts and odd behavior may have drew undo suspicion. It is debatable if she did it. Nixon tried to fight inflation and cared deeply about the environment. He was willing to deescalate the Cold War and while he took his sweet time DID end the Vietnam conflict. Lincoln was an authoritarian who created what amounted to secret police and arrested people in the north for criticizing him. He deliberately escalated the bloodiest conflict in US history. Blackbeard's targets were mostly wealthy merchants and oppressive territorial governors. John Dillinger was very well dressed. No defending the Flyers though what a bunch of assholes

I like that Lionel actually went to the bathroom to flee through the window, giving him a defensible case against a purgery charge. Although unorthodox, he technically did use the restroom and never specified in the court transcript what he was doing in there or if he'd be back.
