This is what they mean by groundbreaking. He knew exactly where to go and what punk rock was about, deftly steering into politics, moral panic and individualism at every opportunity, making no one wrong. Long may he rule. Phil Donahue 8/18/2024

It was at this time that Phil Donahue introduced us to the fact that Punks were nice people pretending to be bad and Hippies are bad people pretending to be good. RIP Phil Donahue!

My dear, late friend plays one of the cops in this video; alas, the video is too dark to really see him clearly. But he's there in spirit. RIP Bob, you were punk to the end.

the underground new wave/post-punk/ska clubscene of 1980-1984 was about individualism, having fun, interesting intelligent characters, fantastic cool bands, emotional ventilation, coping mechanism for alienation, many eccentric musicians and visual artists.. and it branched out with different facets and manifestations.. it was mainly in continued retaliation from the predictable mainstream rock of 70's and early 80's which was very shallow, commercialistic and unindividulistic because they were putting money above exploring artistic expression.. 1976-1979, there was an intense disappointment in the airwaves that music culture was being manipulated in a tunnel vision of no choice.. By 1980 college radio and club venues made great progress to have our own scene.
