How about the high inheritance taxes, forced heirship rules, and trust taxation?

Forgot to talk about the impact of the new French exit tax (even if there's a credit, it's unclear how it would apply) and inheritance taxes, forced heirship rules

I used Hadida Tax for French tax impact for consideration of moving to France. He was great. Very informative and explained details well.

It seems to me that there are tax conventions between Italy and the USA which enable USA citizens who become Italian residents to NOT be double taxed on any and all declared income. Taxes as a general rule are applied in the country of your residence. In this case if you become an Italian resident you will pay your taxes in Italy. As a general rule outside the 7% tax program, taxes in general are higher in Italy when compared to the US, however cost of living, property taxes and a number of other expenses are lower. The best tax treatment can be achieved through the 7% tax, provided that you are willing to live in a smaller town in Southern Italy, Sicily and perhaps Sardegna. In all other areas of Italy consider paying an average of 28-32% tax on taxable income up to 60,000-80,000 dollars. These are approximate % yet close to real tax cost. If you are earning a combined income of 100,000 dollars be prepared to pay $25,000 to $30,000 in tax. You may have some tax credits that will reduce that amount. For US citizens, cost of medical coverage in Italy is very low and some Italian regions (not all regions) have excellent medical infrastructure and care.

Incredible. I believe in investing and working because I love luxury . when a buddy of mine recommended me to a financial advisor. We spoke about investments and money. I began investing with $120,000, and after two months, the value of my portfolio was $314,800. You think this is crazy, but I choose to reinvest my profit and become more intriguing. We have been working together for more than 10 years, consistently turning a profit. a year ago, opened my first restaurant and bought myself a brand new car last week.

Great video, thanks for posting the recording. One thing I’d just like to note for other viewers is that the value of Roth IRAs (but not traditional IRA) are in fact subject to NL box 3 taxes yearly.

Perhaps the French penchant for universal healthcare is that they logically deducted long ago that the invisible hand of market capitalism needs price transparency and tort control, and that health services don't lend themselves well to that and therefore needs to be provided under bureaucratic control. Seems like there are a bunch of countries around the world doing this very successfully without thinking about it as "socialistic" and all the negative connotations associated with that.

Very useful and frankly if one has significant US IRAs that one wishes to ensure pass to the next generation, France will confiscate your assets. So unfortunately we just got a reason to not stay long term. We’ll just enjoy while we are here.

It is stunning how uncompetitive and unfair this is. Everything I have was generated through 40 years of work and savings. There is no chance France will get its hands on it. I know one can’t live their life based on taxes but this is my kids’ lives. Au revoir France, this is bullshit.

So, if I understand correctly, it is possible to live in France full time and have a company in the US? I am French living in the US for 35 years, my husband is American. We both have social security, also my husband has a trading company. So, would it be possible to purchase a property and live in France full time, and for him to trade on US platforms? I guess in this situation, we would pay US taxes only?

Bonjour! Excellent video. Very informative. Thank you! We are retired American educators with modest social security and pension payments (45k), and very modest rental income(16k). We had been looking at Spain, France, and Italy because of their healthcare systems. But, Spain and Italy would tax us more than France, and France has better healthcare. Is my perception correct? 60k per year is taxed less in France than in Spain, correct? Thank you. Merci! Dean & Cindy

Unless you can take alipay or wechat pay or credit card from China, I don't know how to pay for the US tax filers. My brother and sisters say they help, but when it comes to action, they won't even let me use their credit cards for this purpose, and reimburse them later with my bank transfers from HK...many more examples...

Are us govt pensions, such as U.S. federal govt and military retirement, VA disability compensation for disabled veterans, social security? Between military retirement and VA disability, I bring in just over $100K/yr…when my wife retires from her federal career, she will receive over $50k/yr; then she will likely receive the max Soc sec retirement and I’ll be close behind.
