This is definitely one I wanted to do, but it's got a handful of notes that aren't terribly conducive to playing with 2 hands, so I have to mull over whether I want to improvise or really resort to recording multiple parts (which seems like overkill for just a few notes).

I wrote my own visualizer using the web MIDI API several years ago. It unfortunately only works with old versions of OBS because the version of CEF in newer releases no longer includes Web MIDI API support, so I still have an old portable instance of OBS v21 around specifically for when I want to record one of these. I suppose it might be something worth sharing; I could probably at least host a copy of it on my website. (I didn't have one back when I made this lol)

I've posted a page at cney.stream/tools/piano/ which explains usage and links to the visualizer itself. As for how I built it, it's a bare web page with about 450 lines of JavaScript, using a combination of the Web MIDI API to receive MIDI events, SVG to render (using SVG.js to make manipulation a lot less verbose), and requestAnimationFrame for the render loop. I updated it to follow Vite's TypeScript template for purposes of building a minified version to post online.

I do really like that musical theme (and the pure-white version) but I'd definitely have to think of some way to meaningfully adapt it without overly trivializing it. I was originally looking at a couple of the other piano arrangements in the half-year anniversary event, but some of them would clearly require layering 2 recordings because they're physically impossible with only 2 hands.

Yep, I learned this by ear and didn't use sheet music. Partly because I like the challenge, partly because usually I either can't find sheet music or find it to be inaccurate anyway. And yeah, Key/VisualArts VNs in general have awesome soundtracks.

@@keropiano a bit late to the party, but the reason I clicked on this video is that that the sheets I found had scoring mistakes. Congrats on finding this piece by ear--it's helped me resolve a few rhythm issues in the sheet music :)

Especially refrain, just finished this anime a couple months ago love the music especially lamplight but I like this ost too
