It's amazing that a paid program like Affinity Photo has such a basic RAW development section, lacking in options, and I'm not talking about masks or AI, I'm just talking about brush hardness or gradient blur. It's absolutely basic, so much so that I developed in Darktable, which is FREE and has amazing masking options, and I export to Affinity as a tiff for retouching. I think Affinity needs an urgent update to the RAW development module.

A beautiful effect! However, I would recommend generating the images on your own computer with Automatic1111, ForgeUI or the AI Plugin from Krita. This only requires around 30 - 100 GB of free memory on the SSD and a NVidia RTX graphics card with at least 8 GB VRAM. Depending on the models used, the quality of the results is certainly on a par with Piclumen. The quality of the Upscale comes close to that of Topaz Gigapixel.
@paulmarbach644716 күн бұрын
Your tutorials make me discover a lot of interesting things. Piclumen works fine.
@Daemok16 күн бұрын
I checked out Piclumen for the first time the other day thanks to your channel. I was so impressed with it's inpainting and canvas expand options compared to other sites I've tried. It's hard to believe it's free! It's now become my AI generator of choice, even over some paid options. Anyway, wanted to say thanks for pointing me in that direction!
@IanBrowne-x6n16 күн бұрын
Sort knew most it, but it's always good to watch someone else doing it or similar. Motion blur is something use a lot, often similar but different to the Adamski effect although I feel I was doing it before him 😇. It's a pity direction (not as in rotation) could not be set to motion blur --- bit like the big opposition .

I need to point out that the wheels are not blurred. I don’t know if Affinity has the tools for this composite.
@MLouisevg17 күн бұрын
Radial blur :-)
@PracticalAffinity16 күн бұрын
Well... the wheels were actually blurred in the original as they were in motion. I could have isolated the tires and spokes from the frame and applied radial blur.
@PracticalAffinity16 күн бұрын
Yes. That would work.

Congrats! The music you put in is a nice touch. I didn't even know the move/duplicate panel was a thing! Do you have any plans to make Affinity Photo and Designer courses? Would love to learn from you in a full course format. You would be great at it no doubt.

Congratulations on your milestone! I have enjoyed many of your tutorials and learned so much. Quick question? Why choose document palette, system palette? ect. What is the difference?
@PracticalAffinity17 күн бұрын
Thanks. Good question. The application palette saves to Affinity Photo alone and can be used for other AP projects. The System Palette saves to all the Affinity suite so it could be used for Designer and Publisher as well. And the document palette saves just to that one document you are working on. Have a great day!

Congrats on the mile stone! So I just started using Affinity a few months ago. Switched over from Adobe. I noticed alot of templates and things on envato are for photoshop. I was told they work in Affinity as well. If they dont, do you think that converter would work for them to?
@PracticalAffinity18 күн бұрын
Thanks! The converter works to change Photoshop .grd files to Affinity gradient .afpalette files. If the templates you are using are .psd files, affinity should be able to open them. But, the converter won't know what to do with them.

I wish Affinity would upgrade the tool so opposite ends can be mirrored . Bit like others we will not mention 😀 My main use is straightening buildings or giving a photo more of a UWA look.

Bit more refined to I how did it a few years back 😀 . Has given me idea for an image (the shadow from a tiny stick/twig) I'm fiddling with atm . There always seems to be something to learn, or relearn in most good well produced videos. My main use of the mesh warp tool was pulling panoramas into line; but it's something not to be overdone reply not required
@PracticalAffinity20 күн бұрын
Good idea on the panoramas. I'll try that.

Make sure you are in the Develop persona first and then go to Window in the menu. Overlays should be an option you can check to add it to your studio. If that doesn't work, let me know.
