Jerusalem is absolutely phenomenal and would deservedly be remembered as a classic, in my opinion. I always personally recommend reading it have bought it as a gift for friends, who have been blown away by it.

IM sure he’s bitter about the ex deal but that was a lot of fuckn Hubris tell a company the rights will come back to me fully when this book stops selling. He didn’t take into account collected editions would come out soon. He’s a fantastic writer but to say dc screwed him is just like a kid having g a hissy fit. They made a deal and the deal was followed through. Dc tried kissing his ass and even years later he was offered him the chance to have the rights back if he’d write before watchmen. He had another hissy fit and walked away. Alan Moore is prime example of the saying “cut off your nose to spite your face”
@alandimes5797 күн бұрын
It's not a 'hissy fit', it's about integrity, both personal and artistic. I'm reminded of Bill Watterson, who refused to allow Calvin and Hobbes merchandise, and once he was done with the strip, he wouldn't go back to it. Moore considered Watchman to be complete and self-contained, so why would he accept an offer to write Before Watchmen?

The difference between an "artist" and "a sellout".
@digitaljanus3 күн бұрын
That was a standard deal made under unprecedented circumstances. No one in the mid-80s realized popular collected editions would sell forever and never go out of print. That had never happened before then. And then even after he made it clear he didn't want to work with DC anymore, every time his work was adapted for a film the filmmakers would try to claim that Moore had sanctioned their adaptation when he clearly hadn't and he was pissed off at these unethical attempts to use his name for marketing purposes. That's why he started taking his name off of film adaptations. The man more than most truly tried to advance comics as a bona fide artistic medium, but this damned IP farm that has been making bank for coming up on a century on the work of other creators who were also paid pittances can't even give Moore basic respect. Pah.

I'm not going to say I am "mates" with Alan Moore, but we have mutual acquaintances and I have hung out with him a few times and he is one of the funniest people I have ever met. He is used to the "Fckin hell that's lan Moore" reaction from people and he will immediately pop that bubble and disarm you to the point you feel you've known him for years. He can have a conversation about anything (He and my daughter had a 20 min chat about blu-tac when she said she used to steal it off posters and collect it). He's a genuinely great guy, in fact he sent me card when my daughter had her first child and it was signed "Your Mate, Alan Moore", because he'd heard me saying, "We're not mates, just a mate of a mate"... funny

People love going into this guy's comfortable home and asking him pointed questions about how he's been treated. When he says he's not particularly happy about it, they run to the presses and announce that Alan Moore is raving about comics from the rooftops again like a maniac.
@phildownes24112 күн бұрын
Yup , they totally bait him, not caring that the comic industry basically ripped his heart out. Just using him for a negative sound bite.

Stan Lee is the reason why Alan Moore and literally anybody is actually known for creating/writing/drawing/lettering/etc these comics, didn't stop Moore from spewing venom at him in every interview. Very hypocritically.
@greggoat65709 күн бұрын
@FirstnameLastname-my7bz This is one of the most singularly ignorant statements I’ve ever seen. A lot of people did a lot of work to get creators credit, and acting like Stan Lee was one of them is disgusting. Read a freaking book.

God forbid that someone stands up for their morals and ethics. Yet people are like "how dare he lose his temper over being screwed over artistically and financially." It's like they are saying people should be happy to be screwed over by monopolies.

seen it like 100 times now. I haven't reacted to a teaser like this since the Fellowship of the Ring teaser with the group climbing through the mountains. The Krypto sequence still chokes me up. So brilliant showing us Kal in trouble, making the audience know he's mortal, and his dog saves him!

i've picked up alot of Zander's stuff over the years, starting with Replacement God from Amaze Ink, all the TOP 10 related stuff, the Bone Sharps book with Jim Ottaviani and Heck. i'll always check out anything with his name on it in Previews. Sleep sounds like something up my alley, so looking forward to it. Hope the November interview streak continues annually !

When GT says “resolve” Captain Britain… I hope he’s not planning on sunsetting her time in that role. CB and the Braddocks are the only reason I read comics. Cautiously optimistic for the next 5 issues of X-Force.
